There has been much fretting elsewhere about the Kennels onboard QM2. It seems that, although they were always planned and included in the deck plans, Cunard is now equivocating on the subject. Reservations and email customer service are flat out telling people "there will be no Kennel service on QM2". Onboard, the staff are just saying "they don't know". Others have said they have heard Cunard/Carnival is taking a 'wait and see' approach in 'assesing' the situation.

I just received the "Transatlantic Crossings" Brochure in the mail today, and the Kennels have gone missing from the Deck Plans, no longer marked on Deck 11, aft, starboard side, just a blank white space where they used to be. Now, this does not bode well, although Cunard keeps saying they are "reviewing" the situation. What I want to know is, they had them planned all along, whose bright idea was it to drop them all of a sudden? Fat man Micky?

To those who want the Kennels: NOW is the time to send *written* letters to Pam Conover and/or Micky Arison.

If they actually do this (do away with the Kennels), there will be no way for people to transport their pets across the Atlantic other than flying. It's not good. Not good at all. There are people who want and need this service, and how much more revenue can Fat man Micky make off of that small space?

P.S. Someone should tell them that having Kennel service is another LINER attribute (not required, but nonetheless...)

I guess the animal lovers will just have to sail on the few crossings QE2 will make - she has nice kennels complete with London lamp post and NY fire hydrant - for obvious uses

From what I have read, they were too close to the Boardwalk Cafe and Cunard was worried that the food odors would drive the pets in the kennels crazy. Apparently they are going to relocate them, or are at least thinking of doing so.

At first this sounds like a bit of an odd excuse, but when you really think about it...

2* crossings per year (Westbound in December and Eastbound in April) won't leave them much of a choice on dates, will it now?

Carnival should be careful when QM2 visits Cherbourg on 14th April.
Being under Redoutable protection may not hampers much feared Pet activist Brigitte Bardot.
She came in UK to get the Pet Passport scheme under way.

• The onboard kennel, which can hold from 8 to 12 pets depending on size, is not operating yet because of quarantine regulations.

From the bottom of this article. (Scroll all the way to the bottom of the article)

However, then why would it disappear from the deck plans?
