Hi cruisers, We`re taking a cruise to the Panama canal on the Princess`s Coral Princess which departs Ft Laurderdale 1st March 2004.
One of the ports of call was going to be Cartagena,
but due to problems in that area princess Cruises have removed this port of call and replaced it with
Montego Bay in Jamaca.
Although we have been to Jamaca (Ocho Rios) and have already seen the Dunns river falls we have never been to Montego Bay.
Could anyone suggest any inexpensive places to vist, and/or are there any good local snorkeling locations that we could do independantly

When we were in Montego Bay we did a ship's excursion on a river with bambo river rafts-very peaceful and relaxing. We then went to Margaritaville-fairly wild-a water slide into the ocean, water trampolines, food, a fire walker, etc. That would be one of my suggestions. Would go back there again.

Downtown Montego Bay is really a nice look see. I don't suppose you would want to take the Governers Coach (train ride) into the back hills and see what rural Jamaica looks like as it may cost a few dollars. But it is a really nice excursion.

The beaches in the area are fantastic with great swimmming. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. It is a great little Port. Have fun.

I always wondered why No Cruise Lines in the last couple years have used Montego Bay as a homeport, I know Regency did for many years and not just one, but two or three ships too! I know the Valtur Prima(now Caribe) was homeported their for her cruises to Cuba! Now their are every few ships home ported their. Does anyone know why, as far as I know Montego Bay is an excellent homeport for the Caribbean as it is closer than Tampa and u can sail better and more intensive itineraries with little competition into deeper parts of the Caribbean!
