Hello

My husband and I are discussing our next cruise in the summer, could someone who has been on The Sunbird answer a few questions for me please:

1) What are the best inside (double) cabins to go for i.e which deck & position
2) how small are the cheapest inside cabins? can they be moved together to make a double (like it says in the brochure)
3) how much does room service cost if we fancied a snack
4) Are there quizzes onboard.
5) What is her library like

Any other pointers and tips would be greatly appreciated and if anyone has got any interior phots of her showing cabins etc then I would be most grateful
many thanks in advance Jane

Hi,
The wife and I cruised in the Med on Sunbird about three years ago, we done two 1 week cruises back to back, we were joined by our son & his wife for the second week.
Firstly I would ask if you have cruised much in the past, because if you have, like us, you cannot help compairing with other ships.
The Sunbird seems to atract quite a few first time cruisers.
We had an inside cabin on the Sunbird and I must say that it was very small and my first ever experience of feeling claustrophobiac in a cabin on a cruise ship, It might be acceptable for a 1 week cruise, but not for us.
I thought the decor was quite dull & plain, the twin beds could be put to-gether, but due to the narow width of the cabin we were only able to get into the bed on one side.
The food was just ok. We thought the entertainment
was very good although there is no proper theatre.
Condition of the Sunbird is showing definite signs of ware especially on the outside eating areas.
Although some first time crusers that we met on board seemed happy enough.
I suppose that it all depends what you pay for the cruise. I believe that you will get a much better standard on most of older ships like Celebrity Centry, and the cost are similar, if you need any more info on this don`t hesitate to contact me.
I hope you find this helpfull.

Regards
Pete42

I was on the Sunbird when she sailed for Royal Carribean as the Song of America. We had a standard outside cabin that was about 120 square feet-although during the day one bed folded into the wall and the other served as a couch-and we had a lovely picture window. The bathroom was small. I must say from what I saw the interior cabins were very tiny. But, she had a nice promenade deck to watch the sea and two nice pools. Also, the Viking Crown Lounge is still intact on her-a very nice space.

Whoops

Sorry pete!

Forgot to add my own message DOH!

Thanks for your info on Sunbird. Yaeh my husband and I have cruised before with princess, PO & Ocean Village. I know she is an old ship but thought it might be a change (for a budget cruise) we will have a longer cruise at Christmas porobly with Princess (I like the american style of cruising)

Do you have any menus or photos of Subirds interior so that I can compare to OV?

Many thanks Jane

Hi Jane,
Please excuse me for the delay in getting back to you but its taken me some time in locating a Sunbird inside cabin photo for you, and before I was able to download it I had to register in the cruise talk photo gallery, not to mention 18 holes of golf in between.
To get my photo:-
If you go to photo gallery on the home page and type in sunbird in the search box and press search you will find the photo about 3 pics down, and clic on the picture .
This inside cabin is the one that we had.
If you don`t mind a small cabin you should have a nice time on the sunbird.
I don`t know how much your thinking of paying for this cruise, but just for your info only, we have booked a cruise on the 5 star Celebrity Centry in the caribbean for 7 nights in Dec 04 and although we have booked a sky suite, I know that the inside cabins at the time were going for about £599 incl flights and hotel in Miami through my agent.
If you need any more booking info please let me know and I will give you the details.
Regards
Pete

What was the food like on the Sunbird?Do you have a menu - did you order room service if so what were the choices?

Any other info would be great - thanks

Hi Joe,
Thanks for your help with the photo transfer.
Is this something that only you are allowed to do, or would I be permitted to do it myself, if I can could you please give me specific instructions on how to transfer a photo from my photo gallery account and add it to a reply to someones post.

Kind Regards
Pete

You can see 360-degree views aboard Sunbird at this Finnish site. Click on "Sunbird panoramakuvakierros."

Apparently "sisähytti" means "inside cabin."

(Thanks Doug for spotting the site.)
