Hi Pam, I'm pretty sure the port is Funchal Madeira. I can't see enough of the ship to even guess.

sea4me, you are a lot closer than Cambodge, but not quite there. Try & use the imagination on the small amount of colour you can see on the bow flag.. that is if you can see it, just a tiny spec.. I have a new monitor and just cannot seem to get the calibration right.. keep fiddling, and not quite sure what others are seeing.

The port is Santa Cruz in Tenerife. The ship is (gulp) Black Watch (?????)

Yes, Tenerife, not Black Watch, she looks like this

but her more elderly sailing pal Black Prince. Can see why you guessed those Capt Rhone, too many similar colours.

I AM going to the eye doctor next week - no fooling.

1. I did not know that the slopes were barren, I thought them to be tropical - lattitude and all that.

2. I mistook the light bulb on the forestay - or whatever - to be SNOW.

3. I further mistook a white somethingorother above the shoreside buildings on the left margin of the photo to be SNOW as well.

Ergo - the Lofotens.

Nooooooo.

You brought tears [of laughter] to my eyes Cambodge, but I can certainly see why you thought the buildings were snow, not sure about the lightbulb though

I thought the view would be easy, as it's been banded about the net from QM2 in last couple of months a fair bit, but with the bow not a conventional cruiseship I think your guess was a good one.

I should add, much of the Canary Islands are lush with vegetation, but all contain completely barren volcanic areas; very diverse & interesting landscapes.
