Other than renaming a few places, the biggest change is turning the lower level of the casino into the photo gallery, replacing the conference center with the alternative Portofino restaurant, and moving the arcade to deck 5. I'm sure that, in renaming the Carousel Pub the Schooner Bar, they will, no doubt, revamp the CP to reflect the sailing ship motif.

I guess as far as how I feel about it, well, the changes reflect and adhere to RCI's format much better than before BUT, it kinda takes away from what made NE unique to begin with.....

Still, I'm sure folks will love her.......

Having sailed on her twice in her original incarnation, I think the changes are terrific - at last she has become a smaller ship ideal for cruises longer than three days! The original Casino, whilst impressive, was intrusive to say the least and the Carousel was ugly, whilst the High Society lounge was always a bit of a room in search of a role. Now she has a late night bar, an a la carte restaurant and a coffee shop - all terrific. of course, her big problem remains the perennial RCI issue - her cabins are still tiny.

Nordic Empress/Empress of the Seas is with no doubt a very nice ship, but her cabins are now the smallest in the Royal Caribbean Fleet.
The norwegian company has always designed very interesting ships, particularly those of the Sovereign Class, but before Legend of the Seas the cabins were always too small, even for a mass market cruise line.
Returning to Empress of the Seas I believe that RCCL will not sell her... she is the only ship in the fleet able to dock at the major bermudan ports.
