Maybe Cunard will eventually pushQM2's upper veranda cabins out and have her remeasured as 170,000 tonnes.

Captain Rhone, the UVY will have 15 passenger decks, just like the rest of the VY class. Saying "18 stories high" means you include the lower decks.

I don’t want to be too negative, but stretching a voyager just to beat QM2’s size, is not a very exciting prospect as far as I am concerned.

RCI already have a unique ‘class’ of vessel with the ‘Voyagers’. It's a market leader. They may be a little smaller than QM2 in terms of tonnage (a mere 13 tons) but they do have five of them!

Personally I do not think that they needed to get into this particular ‘fight’. They should have walked away for a few years and returned with a brand new class of vessel, if they really want to push those boundries!

It's amazing that what constitutes mere expansion of a an existing design, would have been a whole cruise ship a few years ago! (18,000-23,000 gt, depending on which Eagle figures you use.)

Can someone do a quick photoshop chop and give us a glimpse of what the Ultra Voyager might look like compared to the standard Voyager?

Will the enlarged ship look any different externally? Or will it simply be a longer version of the exact same Voyager-class we're all used to?

RCCL wants a bigger ship, not only to have the biggest of the world. As they say, this new ship will be more profitable than Voyager class.

This is one I did a little while ago. The ship is stretched although I'm not sure if its the same amount as planned, it just gives you an idea.

I just did a rendering... respecting the length addition. I put a covered solarium because I hope there will be one.
