Fiesta Marina was a brainstorm of Carnival designed for the Latin market. They used the old Carnivale as their only ship "Fiesta Marina". This did not last long as they found out the passengers did not want to cruise on an older ship when so many newer vessels were available. I remember leaving the port of Miami in June of 94 on the Norway and sailing past this ship docked at the Carnival terminal. She looked rather sad.

What really happened is that the marketing dept thought all Latino cultures are the same. Truth is that Puerto Ricans, Venezuelans, Mexicans, Dominicans, and Argentinians, etc all are different cultures united by a language and a relgion.

This is why Fiesta Marina failed.

No the cruise experiment failed because of the Cruise Director, who was from Cuba. This particular CD had a terible temper and created quite a bit of havock among the crew and the various departments...an unhappy crew spawns unhappy passengers.

No to forget that this product was settled together with Eirotiki Lines. The mentalities between the Carnival board and the greek familiy-owned company were too much different so that the cooperation was ceased soon afterwards.
The CARNIVALE and MARDI GRAS were then handeled over to Epirotiki.
