Does one of you know already where Louis will employ these vessels after ending their operations for Sun Cruises / My Travel in 2004/2005?

Probably these ships will replace Louis' older tonnages or charter out.

Carousel will most probably replace Sapphire operating Eurocruises. Sundream is not owned by Louis, it's only managed by Louis.

In 2005 the CAROUSEL will make the Norther Europe cruises instead of the SUNDREAM, which made them the years before.

After 2005...???

Hi Rob, indeed bad weather, but that doesn’t stop a couple of Dutch guys like us to watch a ship! Right? I uploaded a couple of my digital pictures into a gallery (I had to delete some which had a big droplet on the lens). Here is the link:Sundream album

Good photos Onno, despite of the weather conditions. I see you were able to get at the balcony of the terminal. I wasn't, as they were filming a sort of religic programme at the stairs... So I decided to go for QE2, docked in the Amerikahaven (I had expected she would be at the terminal, didn't check the webcam/AISLive before depart), so I went to Amsterdam Sloterdijk but from there it was totally unclear which way to go. It seemed quite far away from the station. So I had to skip QE2, which was a dissapointment as I've never seen her before. Maybe next season, under better conditions!

It was my intention to go to QE2 as well (seen her in 2000 at the same location) but the rapidly deteriorating weather made me decide to go back. I was rather early in Amsterdam, as I got out of CS Sundream was passing the Shell building. When I got at the terminal, Sundream just docked and there wasn’t much movement in the terminal yet.

A bit disappointing not to see QE2 but as you say maybe next year.

Onno

PS your welcome John

Rob,

There is no public transport from Station Sloterdijk to the Ceres Terminal and it is a long, long walk.

Besides of the bad weather, there were also other reasons I did not go to Amsterdam. I also skipped this weekend sailing on that old minesweeper. I am still not in the mood, which is still caused by the family matters earlier this month.
Hope the weather will be fine next Monday.

Regards,

Willem van der Leek

Willem -

I am looking forward to seeing Amsterdam from oceana - we dock at 2.00 which is pretty nice as we'll be able to watch our progress up the canal into the port.

Have a good weekend.

Mike

Let’s hope the weather will be nice and dry Mike, maybe I’ll see you there (I will be one of the people on shore looking at the ship and with a bunch of camera’s hanging around his neck ) I probably will be one hour earlier then the scheduled time of arrival, from experience many ships arrive one hour before the scheduled time.

Best, Onno

I thought of wearing my wooden shoes, but the darn things are self torture! You sure know how to exaggerate Pam, it would be something if there were just a couple of people passing by that took the trouble of turning their heads to look.

Onno (who will be wearing a beige and dark brown jacket)

I believe Ruigoord is the nearest town to Ceres Terminal and Bus 82 runs along with the N202 for Ijumuiden.

Click route on the left bar for RUIGOORD - HOW TO GET THERE page.

You may find BUS 82 (Marnixstraat) - timetable/dienstregeling and Kaart.

There is indeed a public transport that stops at a public bus stop near the Ceres terminal. If I’m not mistaking it is an hourly service and only during weekdays. Four years ago I was scouting the area on a Saturday and while waiting at the bus stop I noticed it did not drive during the weekend so I had to take a taxi bus back to Sloterdijk (which phone number was conveniently advertised at the bus stop)

The other alternative is a big walk all around the smaller harbour areas back to Sloterdijk (but there is a MC D. along the route if you need a pit stop)
