Hi, i have some ideas, but i don't have the software for it. can some body design a YACHT CRUISE SHIP , aproximately 75 - 80 meters, with a black hull, and a design (the bow, en bridge) like the queen mary 2?

Hi,
How about one of Roman Abramovitch´s yachts, Le Grand Bleu? She is 354 ft long and has a blue hull.

Look at the site of amels. www.amels-holland.com there are some very nice yachts of about 75 metres long, but then design one, with the design of the queen mary 2!!!!

While we are on the yacht subject I have a question to ask. When I recently returned from a cruise in July on NCL's Dawn, docked at the other peir in NYC was this beautiful and rather large yacht called the Le Grand Bleu. I see that recab mentioned it above. Who owns that yacht?

I've not seen pics of Le Grand Bleu, only of Pelorus, which loks really swish. Doesn't he have a 3rd one too? I recall reading about it when he went to the Euro football in Lisbon and took more than one yacht!

mec1 - I am sorry for my ignorance, I misunderstood the post. I thought possibly Roman Abramovitch was just a yacht designer (maybe he is) not the owner of the vessel. So who is this man? Is he a celebrity of some sort or a sports figure (since Pam mentioned football). It was a very nice ship.

To the uninitiated Roman Abramovich is a Russian billionaire who controls Sibneft ("Siberian Oil"). He also owns the London based Chelsea Football Club (soccer club to the North Americans). Le Grand Bleu is 354', and is the sixth largest yacht in the world (for the time being).

Pam, here are a couple of pics of the Le Grand Bleu:

and here are several images of Octopus, currently the world’s largest motor yacht owned by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame...

The bridge on Octopus, of all the superyachts that I know of, has the closest resemblance to that of a modern cruise ship. Though I'm not sure whether you’ll see superyachts of 60, 70 or 80 metres with QM2 bows and bridges.

Thanks for the pics. Nice, but not as sleek as Pelorus.

I have seen some much better photos, but can't find them quickly.

nycruiser, Abramovich is probably better known to Brits & Europeans, as he's often in the news here regarding Chelsea Football club. The only reason I would have known of him & his yachts. [Not that I watch football at all, but you couldn't miss the news clips during the Euro Comp this year].

I must have missed something. I was still thinking in "Nabila" terms of modern yachts, but design hasmade "progress".

Are these the most modern and biggest yachts of today ??? The term "yachtlike" can disappear, at least in the positive sense. They look like antarctic exploration vessels, not hedonistic pleasure craft.

Pelorus is sleek indeed.

"Kalizma" and "Christina O" are more the archetypal yachts, and "Pelorus" of these days.

The bridge of the Grand Bleu reminds me a bit of the bridge of the "Achille Lauro".

I think Roman Abrahamovitch is best known in UK - I could only place him because of the reference to the Chelsea Football Club (and that is all I know about him). I haven't seen reports about him and his yachts (but then I rarely read the sports sections of the newspapers)

Paul Allen's yaught even has a submarine aboard, although it still has to be approved for operations. For the Dutch members: this weeks Elsevier magazine has an photo of the ship at a article (although the article itself isn't about that ship).

I really don't think we'll ever see a junior QM2 yaught.. except when those German brothers (that builded a large RCI ship- seen in some post a while ago) will start building it sometime.

i thought it may be nice to have a 3d design of a small queen mary 2, (not that one what we wanted queen victoria to be) and 80 to 100 metres, just for comparisment, and of course fun, does any one has this knowledge and software?

Here’s the latest Roman Abramovich owned yacht Ecstasea, pictured at one of Feadship’s shipyards, Royal Van Lent in Holland.

Not the prettiest modern yacht in my opinion, her lines look a bit disjointed to me.

And here are some images of Pelorus, his other superyacht, which is sleeker in looks. I also agree with Pam regarding this one.

A bow view.

Her relative size to one of the Seabourn Yachts.

A view of her transom stern, which hides a tender and water-toys garage.

And a starboard side view in Montecarlo.

A friend of mine is a cousin of Paul Allen and has spent quite a bit of time aboard Octopus. She told me that he is currently planning a larger version of this yacht, that should be quite a ship!

In fact at the present time I think there are a couple of yachts either being built or planned that will be bigger than Octopus. Maybe Paul Allen is going to build one even bigger than those. Like you said, lasuvidaboy, it should be quite a ship.

If I find any pics of the larger yachts I'll post them so that you can compare them to Octopus.
