Thanks for the photos and link. Much of the ship has been toned down, but a lot remains the same as well. The main Promenade and disco are exactly as I remember them on JUBILEE. So is the aft lounge and main showroom. Pools and decks look the same as well. Funnel looks worse!

Dining rooms look 100% better, as does the carpet throughout the ship. The pizzeria is new as is the Outback Grill. I believe the Outback Grill is the old buffet restaurant?? The suites also look quite nice. Hopefully the remainder of cabins and have lost their Carnival "IKEA - style" pink laminate furniture and red-orange carpet/bedspreads. Much of what I see is the same style of work that performed on CELEBRATION.

All in all the ship does look better, but as I mentioned many of the areas look the same except that the carpet was changed out. JUBILEE was already one of the more "toned-down" of the Carnival ships.

I think the Aussies should find her a fun experience. I know the American's did for years. One of my biggest disappointments with all the Carnival ships are VERY small pools and most don't have the nice shallow pool surround if you just want to get your feet wet. Instead the pools are more like wells with the water starting a few feet below the rim. This always surprised me since Carnival probably attracts more sun worshipers and swimmers than any other line, go figure?

WOW, I really like the "new" interiors with an exception to a few public rooms. The restaurants and Outback Grill looks fabulous along with the toned down promenade. The Speakeasy Lounge, OZ Disco, and Smuggler Lounge seems to have similar carpet design. Are these from the Carnival days? In my opinion, the worse looking lounge is the OZ Disco and those hidious green lights !

man im so surprised at how it turrned out. I wouled go on this in a heart beat. Looks much better than when it was under carnival. But when some of the pictres of it first came out on travel page under cruise talk the wings were taken off but this picture shows them on. But still ether way it looks good im happy that it is getting better TLC from P&O.

The carpet is all new. Looks very similar if not the same that was used on the CELEBRATION refurbishment. OZ Disco appears completely original and unchanged from the ship's inception. I agree it looks hideous now but years down the road it might be a classic!

There are no wings on the funnel. Those were just an artists rendering. Too bad they were not left on as the ship is really missing something without them.

I have to wonder if the ship will receive anymore TLC from the Australian cruising public then that of Carnival's American clientele. Something tells me they will not be that different. Also, Carnival has always taken quite good care of their ships.

impressed with the way the ship has turned out, althought most rooms seem the same they have been refurbished........like the resturants......overall interiors look much better than the Pacific Sky......some argue tht the Pacific SKy is externally better but its the inside tht counts.......PAcific Sun gets thumbs up for me

Thanks Ernie for the reply. Do you know any links with pictures of the CELEBRATION post-refit? I haven't found much luck other than cabins, the lobby, and restaurants pictures here at Cruise Talk and at Cruise Addicts. Ernie, do you know if the Speakeasy Lounge is original besides new carpeting?

Speakeasy Lounge is absolutely original. The red piano, lights, etc. The spiral stairs lead up to the casino.

The carpet and maybe the chairs are new (or at least recovered). Otherwise it looks the same as I recall from JUBILEE.

Quite funny isn't it that the Oz disco has assumed a far higher degree of relevance now than when she was a Carnival ship. Do you think this is deliberate?

They should have kept the wings and sotred them some place not on the ship but on land so if they wanted to they could just clip them on. There is a little flap that fits over the holes on the front of the stack and then they just weld two pipes that come out of the side.

Glad they took the wings off. Those Carnival funnels are so ugly.
