She may have been when new cruiseshipluver, but not any longer.

Peter P, I could only find the renditions on Color's website, are there any 'real' photos of her interiors. I have seen exterior ones about. I didn't think she was to have been handed over until 11th Dec, with her arrival in Kiel on 12th? Is she early or have I got the wrong dates?

There's a series of external photos on Faktaom, but the thumbnails don't always link to the corresponding larger images. A couple not shown as thumbnails but appear from some there, were taken at night on 3rd Dec. [I think the page must have been being updated as I was looking, some have now changed and the front page has a number of different thumbs].

Pam

The COLOR FANTASY looks terrific! I really like Aqualand. The whole ship really has strong resemblance to Voyager-class ships and the CF is like a "mini" version of the Voyager-class.

I wonder if the American public would think she is a RCI ship if she was to deploy to the North American waters?

Keitaro i was telling my self the same thing..... she does look like a small Voyager class....seems like the design was bassed on the Voyager class......if u look at the day photos in the link th at was posted.....u can see that she has like wat resembles a "peekaboo" bridge.....her fwrd superstructure and the windows look very similar...the only think is that she desnt have all the lifeboats and balconies

wat i do like is the design of the funnel and the radar mast...the mast looks very very unique...and her lights look good at night too!...very good looking cruiseferry

I think she looks fantastic. Pretty damn luxurious and impressive for an overnight ferry!

Be sure to check out the interactive deck plan on the Color website. It's very impressive and you can explore every area of the ship in 3-D animated 360 degree tours.

I think I'd be willing to go out of my way on my next European trip to include an overnight on this ship.

You have it right CGT. The Pride of Rotterdam and the Pride of Hull (P&O) are ugly to. I found many ferry's not that attractive some are very ugly (most off the channel ferry's)

This ship is definitely a Voyager class car ferry. The resemblence goes beyond the external appearance - she also includes a promenade running through the middle of the ship. Of course the lounge looks like a Viking Crown lounge too.
I think what will be interesting onboard will be to check out the cabins in particular. Most overnight ferries I have been on don't have wardrobe space per se, just some hooks. If she has wardrobes then her designers must envisage at least a possibility of her doing some longer voyages than the overnight Kiel - Oslo stretch.

Many of today's cruise ships are hardly astatically pleasing, so we can hardly expect such functional vessels as Ferries to be ultra-pretty.

However, I would say that many of the big Ferries are actually becoming increasingly attractive!

Some interior photos can be found at the following link.

http://www.dagbladet.no/dinside/2004/12/04/416545.html

Without a doubt she looks like a mini-VOYAGER OF THE SEAS. The "Royal Promenade" even has the same ceiling lighting (although it's a deck shorter) and the dining room looks very similar (also a deck shorter).

It's all very impressive for an overnight ferry.

Ernie

ps - Cabins look very nice ... up to if not exceeding cruise ship standards.

Color line had certainly cruise ships in mind :
the voyage Oslo-Kiel is called "cruise".

The ship is huge, 74500 BRT...
About the promenade : I think it were Scandinavian Ferries (Silja ?) who first had such prominent inside promenades, an idea which was later taken over by cruise lines.

The "Oceanic" restaurant reminds certainly some modern cruise ship restaurants.

About the use of the ship as a cruise ship : as far as i can make out, there are only cabins available, no "seating airplane like lounges" as on other ferries, so the cruise idea is certainly clear, I think.

Wow..it's a cruise ship with a car deck!

With a street like the 'Voyager' class and a bridge just like the 'Radience' class, complete with star-trek type control desk and a sofa and chairs towards the bridge wing.

(eroller posted this)

i thought RCI's Eagle class would have recieved a "patent" on the promanade......apparently not?????
COLOUR FANTASY has copied the promanade to the "t" down to the lighting and all......

Her interiors are very nice though even though she copied just about everything there was on the royal promanade down to the ship models that tell where everything is.

The bridge on the Radiance class ships is similar to those of the Voyager class.
