Sorry to be off topic ... but is anyone else annoyed by all the talking (make that shouting!) ads on Cruise Talk. Some are extremely obnoxious and there is no way to turn them off. Joe, I realize you need advertising to support the site, but do you have to permit the talking ads?

The really obnoxious talking ads on Cruise Talk are relatively new. I would say within the last six months or less.

I tend to keep my volume on as sometime I listen to music while surfing the net or go to sites which have a legitimate reason to have sound. I keep the volume fairly low, but the talking ads on Cruise Talk seem to be set to a very high volume and blast out everything, especially the peace and quiet. Not a fun way to read all the interesting posts on Cruise Talk. Sometimes I try to click on a thread as quickly as possible to get away from the talking ad, only to have the same talking ad blast me out on next page. There is no escaping!

Sorry folks. I was in the process of blocking the really obnoxious ads but didn't get around to it before this thread started. I have blocked what I think are the most offensive but feel free to email me if you see an ad that you think is too much.

Thanks again for all your support.

Joe.. I thank you sir. I find these adds to be obnoxious as well. Lately as a whole I find the whole marketing business to be"in your face"

I don't know what the marketers are thinking by being so clever, but it's not going to influence me to buy their products.

First time it happened to me, I thought "what the H is going on? Who's talking to me?" Then I realized it was the ad at the top of the page. Very annoying to say the last. Didn't happen to-day, so I guess Joe has blocked it.

Joe,
One of the talking ads is still floating around. It's called "eye Q". I hope you get it!

Thanks.

Either you don't have speakers or the volume is turned off. Talking ads are appearing everywhere. Up until a week or so ago, it was difficult to log onto Cruise Talk without a talking ad blaring away. Joe has pretty much corrected the problem (thanks Joe!).

I keep my sound switched off when I'm on the net, having had unpleasant surprises in the past.

Another bone of contention is those infuriating "quivering" ads, usually located att he top of the page, or the floating ads which follow you as you scroll down the page (not on this site though, fortunately) and are hard to get rid of (if you don't click in the right place the damned thing opens - you only have to be a tiny bit out).
