Louis has changed register of SAPPHIRE to Marshal islands. This flag gets more and more popular for the shipping companies and offers better advantages than the Greek and Zypriot flags.

CALYPSO was renamed THE CALYPSO following the change of register to the Greek flag. There has been a cargo-vessel with similar name under Greek flag already.

Louis vessels THE CALYPSO, PERLA, CORAL and SAPPHIRE are managed through Core Marine.

ODYSSEUS is now renamed LUCKY STAR and should soon leave to Asia to become a gambeling ship. V-Ships is managing and owning her.

WORLD RENAISSANCE was renamed GRAND VICTORIA. Now word yet on who will charter her or if she will be sold again by Ravenscroft.

Patrick

Patrick,
many thanks that you keep us posted with hard to get news about the WORLD RENAISSANCE/GRAND VICTORIA! I am interested to cruise on that ship. So I read every post you send about this ship eagerly.
SAPPHIRE has been renamed already in Oct. 2004, when I cruised abord her. Home port then Majuro, Marshall Islands. Maybe she was renamed even early that year, as she called in Turkey (Kusadasi) that summer, which is off limits for Cypriot ships, as you surely know.

Hi
If she had called at Kusadasi then she was definitely NOT registered at Cyprus.

The government hopes that Turkey's accession talks with the EU (no matter what the final result will be and when will that be) will help to smooth Cyprus relations with Turkey and let Cyprus registered ships to call at Turkish ports.
Same will happen for airplanes using the Turkish FIR.
At the moment CY have to fly around the west coast of Turkey to go to Moscow increasing the total journey time significanlty.

Thanks for the update Patrick. Is there any ships left in Louis' fleet that are still registered in Cypriot? I hope their onboard product stays the same and uses the same crews, even though the flag changes....

I thought it is interestint to note that WORLD RENAISSANCE owners will not operate her along side NEW FLAMENCO. As you mentioned in another thread that the new name sounds very Iberojet-like. I wonder when cruise lines will begin using JUMBO or MEGA prefixes

Star Cruises used the Mega prefix on two smaller ships a few years ago, one now sails as Spirit of Oceanus for Cruise West. They were both former Renaissance ships!

SERENADE flies the Bahama-flag.
Only PRINCESA MARISSA, AUSONIA, THOMSON SPIRIT and THOMSON DESTINY are under the Cypriot flag.

SAPPHIRE flies the flag of Marshall Islands since October 4th 2004 already. So this part is not real news.

Yes, indeed but do not give that much attention to the ships profiles in the Louis page as they are always in a mess

Search for cruises from Cyprus to Greek Islands or Greece and you will find all cruises performed by Ausonia.
