...we don`t know, but maybe the question should be: What`s wrong with the other lines, that they do not report such incidents. Also, Carnival has many ships with many passengers so the probability is higher - even without considering that this are "fun ships".

Carnival have the most berths at sea, attract a youngish crowd, many of whome who enjoy a 'party'.

If someone goes missing on a ship it is going to make the news regardless of cruise line. At least here in the states anyway. RCI has about the same amount of ships sailing as Carnival does.
I think you have hit the nail on the head, your media plus the fact that cruising is much more low key in Europe would probably confirm that.

Also, the cruise lines cannot hush these things up as well as they did in the past. The instant that something happens on board, literally scores of passengers are calling home to tell someone about it, and the media are alerted, especially in a ship's home port. It's all part of the instant "breaking news" phenomenon, good or bad, thanks to modern technology.
