bmajor- thats something to get excited about!~ you would have to consider saving some pennies and getting aboard! imagine being out on deck sailing past the crowds as you leave princess wharf

do you know if this means that cunard has confirmed a world cruise? i wonder what other NZ ports it will visit? i remember a while back bulbousbow was speculating which aussie ports the ship could visit~!

look forward to hearing more news on this one! fingers crossed it visits many aussie ports and not just sydney! (if it can even fit in there?!)

Phil, you remember well. The news of QM2 doing a world cruise with visits to Australian ports came from Jeff of Vancouver when he was here in Adelaide earlier this year. This confirms it. Now we'll have to wait and see which ports will be included.

She will generate unprecedented media coverage and we'll have to be at the terminal/pier/beakwater very early to get prime positions and parking or we'll be miles away and ten deep.

******

Cheers

She certainly will generate a huge amount of coverage.
I was on Star Princess when she made her first call to Melbourne.Went out to visit friends and allowed plenty of time for the taxi ride back to the pier......but did not count on the roads around Port Melbourne being gridlocked ,with everyone wanting to see the ship.
Time was running out and the driver suggested we get out and walk,he gave directions, but we were a fair way from the pier. The walk ,turned into a run to make it back to the ship in time, only to find sailing had been delayed as the Ships Tour coaches were also caught up in the traffic.

I think that she can fit into Sydney Harbour but she is too long to berth at the Circular Quay overseas passenger terminal. I think she would have to berth at or near the navy docks which are geographically further east than Circular Quay, on the other side of the Opera House.

hey geoff- do you know what my biggest regret of our recent sapphire princess cruise was.... the fact we opted for early sitting at dinner. For those sailing on Diamond this year I would recommend the later sitting as it allows you to go out on deck and watch sailaway (not only in auckland but most ports you stop at).

Although we had a window table in the dinning room... i would have much preferred to be outside seeing all the people!
