HAHA well from another post, looks like our nice, clean, 'new' ship has gotten dirty again.

Thinks is common that witte hulled passenger liners have rust on places specially around the anchor.
the ship looks very good overall.

Greetings Ben.

I didn't actually notice the wonky lines!

Security was definately higher than more recent cruise ship visits. Security Guards were everywhere, but as you can see you can still get quite close. I don't know how much longer that will last

Thanks for the pics Geoff

The above one shows how close the ships dock to the Hilton Hotel and the apartment complex.

I have heard that when ships start the thrusters and begin to move away from the wharf the whole complex shudders.

Not sure whether I would like to live in an apartment on Princess Wharf!!!!!!

just on that tanker issue... i would have thought a barge type refuelling device would have been used instead of many truck/tankers!

On the hazardous signs on the tankers it said "waste oil". There was a small pipe coming out of the first opening. I have no idea what they were transferring but the tankers were from "Salter Cartage" who list themselves in the phone book under "oil disposal".

Usually there are one or two of these tankers for most visits

Isn't there good money involved with recycling oil? Regardless, I guess this is the Kiwis doing their fair share for the environment. Good onya.

interesting stuff! i wonder if this oil collection is standard thing at the end of every cruise? or once a month? once every 6months etc?

it does seem a little weird that its so soon after the dry docking refit - which makes me think that its something that needs doing at the end of every cruise?

the other thing... could this be a result of the new engine or gearbox that got replaced recently?
