As listed in Singapore Cruise Centre, LUCKY STAR (ex-ODYSSEUS) will sail a series of cruises to nowhere from Singapore.

My source in Singapore has just informed me that the listed sailings beginning 05 November have been canceled.

The owners are finding more needed repairs to the ship. Lucky Star will likely be at the shipyard for all of November.

No, there is no web site for Lucky Star, just as there is no web site for Omar III sailing from Singapore.

These casino ships rely mainly on "junkets" so there is no need for them to advertise. They have their own list of names which suits them fine.

As a matter of fact, Omar III is a "junket" only ship and cannot be booked by individual pax. You must be a member of a VIP Club to board the ship.

Thanks Mike. So, the only way to see any images of her is if one of us enthusiasts is able to photograph her wherever she is.

Hi bulbousbow,

I'll ask my Singapore contact to snap a few photos of Lucky Star while she will be berthed at SCC.

Am sure he will gladly do it. Now all we have to do is wait and see when she will leave the ship yard

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike. What does one have to do to become a VIP member? Can I just join the Club and sail once?

Also, I am curious to know how many casino ships in Singapore and Hong Kong are "junkets"?

Hi Wayne,

You asked a good question.
Most casino ship operators get their new VIP members through recommendations of current members. Also, they invite members to submit names of people who they think would be interested in joining. The land based casinos in Macau have lists of their "preferred" clients. Being that the HKG casino ships are connected in some manner with the Macau operations, they have access to these lists. There is a membership questionaire/application form that you must fill in, and then is subject to approval.

As far as joining, and paying a membership fee and sailing once, each operator has different rules. In Hong Kong for example, there are some casino ships that allow anyone to sail. You just simply pay the cost of a cabin for an overnight cruise.

Other operators, such as Asia Cruises, require membership before you can board Asia Star.

These casino ship operators are very astute at just looking at someone, and determining if they are a serious gambler or just a casual cruiser looking for an overnight getaway.

Regards,

Mike

When she was sailed as the Marco Polo in the 1970s, she had visited to Japanese Ports one to four times in a year.
She also sailed as Aquamarine between Kobe and Hong Kong in late 1970s and early 1980s.

I had a ship tour on the Marco Polo in Dominion days.

Dear Friends,

As you migth know last year appeared in the cruise market a new British/Cyprus cruise company that intended to make weekly cruises departing from Cuba.Unfortunately they operated only for 4 months, I suppose.
Amazingly they announced that they would start their cruise operations after their bougth of the "Odysseus" of ROC,which would be renamed "Joy Wave" in fact they even made preview postcards and photos of this ship with their colours( I saw some), however at the last time the business did not went well, and the new "Joy Wave"- yes,the "Odysseus" was renamed for a week as "JoyWave", in a positional voyage from Piraeus to the ship yard that would be encharge of her transformation.
But, this really was only for one week, and instead they chartered the "Queen Constantina" (ex-Queen Eleni) of the cyprus based company New Marathon Cruises as the brand new Legend Cruises "Joy Wave"
This ship called at Funchal at her postional voyage to Cuba and she really looked horrible,so, after reading the news that Legend Cruises closed their opeartions, I would like to know where is presently the "Joy Wave", and if possible I would like to know if someone has got available a photos from this ship with Legend Cruises colours, as well as the preview postcard of the "Odysseus" as Joy Wave".

Best regards from Madeira Island,
