Hi everybody,
I am new to this board, and look forward to contributing.
Surprised to see that The "Costa Allegra" is sheduled to do a few 16 day back to back HK- Bombay cruises from April to June, and then [ as far as I can see ] nothing past her last call to HK.
Any one know of her future past that point?
I dont think these cruises have been widely promoted in Australia, which strikes me as strange as they would fit in nicely with an air fare to Europe.
Merry Christmas

Welcome aboard!

Costa Allegra's visits to Hong Kong has been posted in the schedule of Ocean Terminal. She is listed to be visiting Hong Kong on 29/5 and 29/6, so it is possible that she's doing 16-day HK-Mumbai cruises.

Bear in mind there are a number of mistakes on this schedule, however. Also listed to visit Hong Kong is Pacific Sky in 2007 ??

Costa Allegra steps into Asia
January 10, 2006

Costa Cruises is to step into the Asia cruise market deploying Costa Allegra, one of the oldest and smallest ships in its fleet on two 13-day cruises between Hong Kong and Mumbai.

Departure of the first cruise from Hong Kong is scheduled at the end of May, with the 28,430gt vessel, built in 1992 calling Danang, Nha Trang and Hi Chi Minh City in Vietnam; Singapore, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Phuket in Thailand, Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, Colombo in Sri Lanka, Goa and finishing in Mumbai.

The vessel will sail a return leg on June 13. The itineraries will be marketed in Hong Kong and mainland China but Costa is preparing to sell them in Europe too with fly cruise packages starting at under €3,000.

Last July Seatrade Insider reported Costa was studying the possibility of deploying a ship in China and in doing so becoming the latest of the Carnival Corp. brands to target the Asia Pacific region, where Princess, P&O Cruises Australia and Holland America Line are all boosting capacity.

Costa ceo Pier Luigi Foschi brings vast expertise in Asia. He joined Costa after 23 years with Otis Elevator Co., spending the last seven years as executive vp of its Asia Pacific operations with responsibility for 14 countries, from Mongolia to Australia, from India to Japan.

Costa's debut in Asia a success
February 1, 2006

Costa chief Pier Luigi Foschi proclaimed the line's first foray into the Asia cruise market as a success, with all the itineraries (two regional plus two positioning cruises) on Costa Allegra sold out, he told Seatrade Insider.

Utilising one of the oldest and smallest ships in its fleet, Costa Allegra, the line is offering two 13-day cruises between Hong Kong and Mumbai. Departure of the first cruise from Hong Kong is scheduled at the end of May, with the 28,430gt vessel built in 1992 calling in Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Andaman Islands, Sri Lanka, Goa and finishing in Mumbai. The vessel will sail a return leg on June 13.

Asked by Seatrade Insider if this will lead to more or bigger tonnage being deployed in Asia in the future, Foschi said he could not say.
