Hello

The Pacific sky, now renamed Sky wonder is in Greece, in Elefsina shipyards, she is in dry-dock, painting with the Pullmantur livery.

Cheers

Lucas, can you verify anything with regard to the fact that her first cruise for Pullmantur had to be cancelled due to engine problems? I read that passengers were told just prior to joining aircraft to join her and "riots" ensued?

Pam, I will ask some infos about that to my greek friends and will tell you what I will learn from them, this evening.
That's right that the first cruise was cancelled for engines troubles and because the ship arrived late in Elefsina. So the refit started only few days ago.

Cheers
Lucas

when she last broke down near singapore, when under P&O, did they repair the problem properly? or just do a patch up job to keep her going until this scheduled dry dock?

If memory serves me right, the pac sky sucessfully completed a couple more 7night cruises before being transfered to pullmantur

Funny in all of the promo material for the new P&O Australia brochures there are still some images of the Sky, but hey that expected considering the history of inaccuracies by their brochure people.

She does look great. Other than the writing on her hull, she looks best w/the all white hull. Still one of my favorite newer ships.

I always wished that the powers that be at P&O had assigned her to Britain as the replacement for Canberra instead of the hideous Star Princess - she would have been much more like Canberra in terms of style and scale.....

That's a great picture - she does look really good and she is my favourite cruise ship - but sorry I have to disagree, i think she looked the best with the blue & yellow stripe of P&O Aust. It made her look longer somehow. But she still does look great in these colours.

The white livery is nice, but some sort of color line across her mid-structure would be much better.

A little off topic but why when she is spanish owned and operated and sold almost exclusively to spanish pax is she not called something spanish, why an english name ? Ditto for the rest of the ships owned by other spanish companies - the only firm I can think of who name their ships in their own language (and it is stretching the description of their own language) is Aida and to some extent MSC which of course does market itself worldwide.

HAPAG named 'mostly there ships after German ports, Holland America Line named there ships after Dutch city's with names ending on DAM ore rivers and added DAM to the name.

The ship herself i never found here attractive and never saw good interior pictures. Only i hope that Pullman can operate the ship trouble free.

Greetings Ben.

I agree. There are some lovely Spanish names that could be used. Reina del Mar would be a great name for her.

On Cruceromania's site, there is an artists impression of her in Pullmantur's livery retaining the stripes.. see here

Thanks for the link Pam, she looks good like that - although in the picture they've kept not only the stripes, but also the P&O flag! That photo's taken straight from the P&O brochure - and made to appear like the ship is steaming along, when it's really too close to land! The benefits of photoshop.. P&O also have a digitised image of Pacific Star showing it in almost the same spot - and also seemingly steaming through the water way too fast to be that close to land!

pictures of sky wonder leaving venice 20th june
sadly pullmanturs livery does not do her justice.
the logo, just painted onto the funnel, would be more suited to a global logistics company.
also there is no company standard, for example blue dream which was in venice the day before still sporting a dark hull.
i concluded that despite all of this, the SW is such a great looking ship she shines despite the insipid colour sheme.
she must also be one of the most travelled and throughout her career must have cruised most of the world.

She still looks great. It will be time before I get used to seeing her in white again.

Seeing the stern, I wonder when they will add a ducktail to it

Looking at the deck plans and pictures of the interiors on Pullmantur's website, it doesn't look like they intended to change the interiors much. It's not that long ago (about a year) that they did a bit of a refurbishment job on her as Pacific Sky here in Brisbane. I think they upgraded some of the suites, upgraded the carpet and put a new sound system in the Legend's Bar. On Pullmantur's deck plans even some of the public rooms have kept the same name.
