The pictures on the link that is displayed are of princess ships, the Grand Class. However the description of the ship given is for the Carnival Pride which is sailing out of LA. I sailed on that ship when it was new. Her sister
ships would be the Legend, Spirit and the Miracle.

Yes but you can buy them in 2006 only so you have to hurry a bit if you want to . Can it be that this company (Princess/ Carnival or whatever) can be selling one or two ships to commercial companies to just charter them back after the sale? But I'm just wondering or they need that...

May be Carnival has run out of transfers options and seek to know the exact market value of their soon to be relocated units?
The subsidaries that used to accept transfers from old Carnival units(Costa, P&O Australia) may be looking for newbuildings rather than transfers?

I think you might be right. I seem to remember hearing that most cruise ships are for sale under the right conditions. Those conditions must meet the needs of the cruise line though (i.e. lease back, etc) in order for the sale to happen.

Anyone have more info on the practice?

Yeah, Carnival corp will sell their ships via a shitty little boat broker.

Its quite possible that Carnival corp are open to offers for some of their vessels - but any similarity between that website and reality is purely coincidental.

I agree that is unlikely that Carnival approaches these broker sites, but if the ships are for sale, the broker is free to list them. In this case, maybe the broker is trolling for interested parties with plans to approach Carnival with a "great deal" if he gets an offer.

In any event, check out the various ship brokers listed on our cruise industry page. I don't think any of them have invested heavily in their web sites and several have "lifted" images of the ships from this site.

I do know that the ferry company DFDS Seaways did something like that too, when they had some financial troubles back in the eighties. They did sell some of the ships then to a Danish bank and leased them back for a period of several years. When it can be used to make the yearly balance more positive, it is not a strange idea.

I find myself questioning the website as well. It seems very amateurish, and the grammar is bad in places. I can't take it seriously.

The website is fraudluent. Possibly a scam to con money out of people.

The setup is childish, with incorrect information, incorrect spelling and grammer. A professional broker website does not look like the garbage that is at that link - perhaps we ought to notify the cruise lines and get them to deal with copyright infringements.
