There is a link to a photo. Looks like the ship will have two funnels.

Two funnes? I must admit the outline looks like it?

Generally the profile looks part Carnival Conquest et. al (bow and front superstructure) and part RCI.

Wow! That doesn't look anything like the first photos leaked on the web seen here:

And the two funnels look more like a HAL Vista design then the angular box funnels employed by Celebrity ever since the Horizon.

I particularly like the stern. It looks like Europa or the Aida ships. It's not like most of the squared off boxes we see today.

Funnels may be nice when it's finished but the rest looks like it was inspired by the Radiance class.

2,850 passengers is too much, too big, and undesireable. How will Celebrity keep the level of service it's known for at this size?

No we know it will be somewhat like the rendering with two funnels. I remember some of you say it wouldn't look like that. I guess it does. LOL.

So, there will be two funnels...
Well, from what I see, I ccan't help thinking those ships will be tacky. This looks like an extended and uglyfied version of the Radiance class. The funnels are too small, IMO, and give the ship a wrongly balanced profile. Some other new ships, even if they aren't pure beauties neither, look much better.

The prow is also a bit dull. It reminds me of Pride of America--short, curved, weak. I like the bow on the original rendering above--much sleeker and strong.

Celebrity ships have always had strong lines--angular and crisp. This prow doesn't maintain that look.

I wonder how the Celerity "Chi" (X) will be disiplayed on the funnels. That is not shown in the drawing.

Although I agree with you CGT, people said exactly the same when Celebrity stepped up form 70,000 tons to the bigger 'Millie' class.

Initially there were alot of reports that standarsd had dropped, but the claims seem to go away.

I think the space-ratio is not as good as the Millie Class.

So can they pull it off again?

I played with the image a little in photoshop to make it to the waterline and black and white, add the "X's" and increase the contrast some too. An interesting looking ship to say the least, though she does need the lifeboats...

Compared with that the Vista class is elegant. Wow never thought that X line and Meyer could design such an ugly vessel.

Hopefully she turned out better thene the image posted by Fairsky in the second post.

Greetings Ben.

Really, I've always thought that the ships built by Meyer were the best looking in the industry--particularly compared to the uninspiring boxes built at most other yards.

The first Solstice image, seen above, was very elegant. It stays with the cruise line's angular theme, and introduces some clever elements--like the large X built into the balcony decks. The Solstice actually being built is far from attractive. It just looks odd proportionally. But I should hold judgment until more info is released.

BTW, looking at the drawing without the lifeboats, it appears the lifeboat recess may only be 1 deck high. Is it possible the ship will have no promenade? That would be a terrible design decision.

I'm looking forward to this ship. Celebrity has, in my opinion, the mosr beautiful new cruise ship. And a two funnel ship could be very interesting.

Not as bad as it could have been and even a little distinctive with the 2 funnels, however other than that same old same old, economics dictate design to an extent now that it is very hard to get something that looks unique and minmises costs - hence short bows, built up "block of flats" superstructure, so while not as bad as it could have been no big deal on the exterior. However where Celebrity often get it right is the interiors, as close as you can get to old fashioned ships in many respects but with a modern edge which is what they should be, I eagerly await deck plans and some mock ups of what she will contain. Personally love the Summit and Constellation (prior to Bar at the Edge of the Earth which I personally would push off the edge of the Earth as they really ruined what used to be a stunning room when WILL they return them to normal) so if these are a progression on them with something a bit new thrown in I'll be on them asap.
