Just looking at the 2 sets of deck plans for these old sisters, it is interestng that PD seems to have very few changes from Princess with the exception of moving the casino into part of the Stage Door disco - even the names of the rooms etc are staying the same, if you painted out her blue and yellow stripe she would be a Princess again in days. The transformation of the old Crown to OV2 is huge, it seems there is a bridge linking the 2 sides of the balcony in the theatre, the Dome becomes a gym/spa (that is a shame as it is a stunning room and now there is no observation lounge) shops turned into extra cabins etc. She could never go back.

mike you have to remember were talking about P&O Australia here... compared to other brands/cruise lines they dont spend much money on refits/upgrades!

only the necessities are required for the aussie public! its a shame really because when we get the larger/newer ships visit our waters in summer its only then that people realise what were missing out on!

I think Regal is such a lovely ship that the fewer changes the better.
I do approve of the Casino being moved however and the dome being re furbished.......what into ,we will have to wait and see. It is such a massive area and the remodelling of it will be a major undertaking.
I would like to see a combination of a "Crows Nest " bar and a night club. The area will be big enough to stage production numbers if they plan it properly. It is also a wonderful observation area.
My fear is that it will probably end up as the venue for those dreadful art auctions.

I agree bmajor - it would be good to see that top area turned into a multi-purpose lounge. An observation lounge by day and a second showlounge during the evening. Similar to that of the Galaxy of the Stars on Superstar Virgo/leo.

When the previous Arcadia/Star Princess was transformed into Ocean Village the conversion worked well.... the theatre has been improved with new staircases linking the "stalls" and "circle" and there has been a new bar created from the old casino/conference rooms.

Extra cabins were created by regrading crew rooms because with buffet meals there is a smaller crew.

The cheapest cabins, the "NN" twins, ex crew, are still very spacious and the "AB" suites, ex officers' cabins, merely lack balconies.

However, having seen AidaBlu last week close up, I take back what I have said previously about an attractive design (an opinion gained from brochure photos).... from the bow its an ugly lump! Give me OV1 anytime.

Another change being made to Regal Princess in the conversion to P Dawn is the removal of the Princess Theatre. They are turning this into a storage area.
