Hi everyone, here are a couple of photos taken yesterday after QM2 returned from dry Docking.
They have done a good job extending the bridge wings, as if you weren't in the know, you probably wouldn't notice:-

Here is a rather interesting view, taken (as the crow flies 15miles away from the Spinnaker Tower). The view is not as clear as I might have wanted, but bear in mind its taken through glass, on 300mm zoom, and the image is cropped:-

Hope you like them.
Rgds,
Andrew

Nice images, thanks for sharing.

I'd like to see a front view of those bridge wings, though.

I heard or read somewhere that they were installing a new passanger facility during this dry dock but that it would only start operating in the spring, why they would leave it there all that time or what indeed it is ??????? A new restaurant to replace the casual burger bar next to the kennel or have they relented and installed a surf machine ?

...and please add the X-rays images of the welds - also, I wonder whether the carpet on the floor of the bridge matches the extension pieces.

On the pictures above it looks O.K. - thanks for posting.

Looks like she is scheduled to be in Ft Lauderdale with the Queen Elizabeth 2 Saturday 11/25/05 if anyone is going to be in the area. Although 5 of the 7 ships in port that day have webcams, none are detailed enough to give close-up pics of the wing extensions.

I will be leaving on the Jewel of the Seas 12/02 and the QM2 will be in port with us and five other ships in FLL. I plan to try and get some photos of her in port. She will also be docking for the first time in St. Thomas at the newly enlarged Crown Bay dock with the Crown Princess on 12/07.

Great pictures...especially the first one. I certainly can't tell the difference but I'll be happy to report back as I'll be boarding her in less than 2 weeks!! Can't guarantee I'll be able to find a way to verify the carpet match Ernst, but I'll be happy to try!
Cheers, Penny

Sorry, Cunard Fan, those were the only one's taken I'm afraid.
Will take and post more as and when I can.
QM2 is not back in Southampton now until April of next year!

Unlike the occasional meeting in Southampton, I dont believe they have been there together in Ft Lauderdale, have they?

Signed,

Eagerly awaiting!

Are either of the Queens going to be in New Orleans anytime this year? I think the QE2 is but I don't know when.

I think the new wings look better. Unlike similar modifications done to Normandie early in her career, this change seems natural and rather than detract, give a greater sense of strength to the face of QM2.

My thoughts exactly. I think she looks amazing with the extended bridge wings in the above mentioned head-on shot.

And I who thought QM2 could not possibly look more impressive!

To be honest, if I hadn't know those bridge wings were modified, I wouldn't have notice anything.

She looks wonderful. I was nervous that the extensions might ruin her beautiful looks but now it seems I was worried over nothing. I love her new looks though you can hardly tell their there.
