The Fantasy is 17 years old now, do you think Micky will start relieving himself of these ships??? They have a small amount of balconies too, would this be a factor????

I don't really know, but 17 years is NOT so old. Although I don't think RCI has ships much older than a decade, at present. NCL's fleet is getting younger.

Balconies are always a factor. They may refit and add some balconies if possible and squeeze out another five years from them? Maybe not?

I assume if 'Pinnacle' ever arrives, old tonnage will be shed then.

Don't look for these ships to go anywhere anytime soon. All of the Fantasy class ships are now working the three, four and five day itineraries and they make lots of money for Carnival. Carnival is spending money each year refurbishing them. So far the Fantasy, Ecstasy, Sensation and Fascination have been refursbished. They can get away with less balconies on the shorter runs. RCI has three ships currently doing the three and four day itineraries and they also lack a large amount of balconies.

The next two ships to leave the fleet will be the Holiday and Celebration.

If they leave the Carnival family my bet would be Louis Cruise Lines. The standard non-compete clause will work fine since Carnival does not service the Mediterranean.

They were state of the art for the time, and IMO are more liveable than the current Louis fleet.

They can provision for 7 days so no matter how well they are redecorated they are not long distance cruisers.

Rex, the Holiday class and Fantasy class are deployed in cruise backwaters such as Mobile, Galveston, Savannah, Gulfport with little competition. Many there are first time cruisers who know nothing else and the 4 day jaunts are notorious for booze, gambling, and gluttony.

Here is a parallel thread
Carnival Fascination out of Mobile, Ala.

Good evening,
I beg to differ here...Carnival Liberty does Med Cruises during the summer and early fall....
However, it certainly would not impact the rest of your arguments as Louis also does the Med, thus there wouldn't be a difference for Carnival PLC to worry about.
Cheers

Loius is more of a Greek Islands cruiser and Eastern Mediterranian. Western Med is served by very modern ships: Carnival or otherwise as Sealeg Claude pointed out.

However, Carnival may just send the remaining Holiday class to P&O Australia. I doubt they would go to Pullmantour. Iberojet: maybe
