Hi

Zenith is due to make its first cruise on the 11th June from Barcelona.

The cruise is shown on their website which is all in Spanish.

Regards,

I'll translate, she doesn't look so good in the pullmantur livery as it is shown in the graphics. The info on the web-site is not so accurate.
Here we go with the translation:

Venetian Round (Itinerary A): 7 nights: saling from June 18 through October 22, 2007 from Venice to Athens.

Venetian Round (Itinerary B): 7 nights: sailing from
June 25 trhough October 29, 2007 from Athens to Venice.

Special Cruise: 7 nights: sailing June 11, 2007 from Barcelona to Venice.

Special Cruise #2: 7 nights: sailing November 5, 2007 from Venice to Barcelona.

All boarding days are Mondays and she will set sail on Tuesdays, exept June 11 when she will sat sail that Monday from Barcelona, and that's all they have for the itineraries.

The only photo I have seen of her in Freeport is here, taken sometime in the middle of May. There must be others about somewhere as surely she should be on her way any day, if not already departed.

AIS Live shows ZENITH as arriving in Barcelona in about an hours time (ie 1200 CET Wednesday). Pity she did not call in at Gibraltar for bunkers yesterday!

Pullmantur have added a video of the Zenith on their website which shows some of the interior of the ship.

Commentry is in Spanish.

Growth at Pullmantur is almost frenetic, Oceanic, Oceanic II (albeit for a short time), Pacific, Holiday Dream (yuk name), Sky Wonder, Zenith, "Star", and soon to be Empress and soon to be gone Blue Dream. So they have "lost" 1400 berths this year but will gain about 4500 !

Iberojet will be playing catch up even with Carnival behind them, however if they went slightly upmarket and thus differentiate themselves effectively (arguably they have better or more upmarket ships) they could well do better, be a problem if they transfer the old Holiday and Celebration though. Sorry a bit off topic but Zenith is in there ! You do wonder though if the market is big enough for all the players - these 2 plus MSC, Costa and others.

Zenith from Sea Princess' webcam today.

I think Island Star usually berths at the WTC? It may not be possible to get both ships in a decent shot only distant. A shame the BCN listings no longer show the berths.

Hi Pam,

thanks for the webcam-pic. I already saw ISLAND STAR at Muelle Adosado but this depending on how much traffic is there.

Wasn't there a webcam overviewing the port of Barcelona ?

I don't think celebrity ships look very good in a pure white livery. The Pullmantur logo is not very attractive either. Mind you it's what takes place on the inside that counts.

Thanks for sharing cruceromania.

Chandris X is better hiden by the Pullmantur logo than it is on ex Horizon by Island Cruise one. However, It still can be seen.
Judging from this pictures, I've the feeling that the port side of the funnel isn't completed yet... Am I mistaking ?

Thanks for the pics. Pascal it looks like whatever they stuck on to hide the 'X' has fallen off

Why is 'Zenith' so large and blocky. Looks out of place to me. Malcolm I think Pullmantur's actual logo is one of the better ones:; just the rest of the livery doesn't go. I wonder if her interiors are finished.

Patrick the webcam on top of the Arts used to sometime point across the harbour. However I have not seen it in that direction now for quite sometime I often check it hoping, but seems they have stopped turning it.

I agree that the style of font used on the bow does not relate to the signage on the side of the ship plus it is to large. The original livery on the Horizon and Zenith just worked better w/their blocky lines IMO.

The name looks like it has been made of sticky back plastic and stuck on, am I right in thinking it is a different font and colour from other Pullmantur ships ?

They really seem to simply take the cheap way out when they get new tonnage, no naming theme so any name goes, coat of white paint and a huge logo in red and minimal anything else, I looked at their tour of Pacific the other day on their website and one of the lamps shown is still broken and has the same shade that I noted just before her sale from Princess ! I swear the bedspreads are the same as well. Granted some but not all carpets have changed. From the tour it would also appear that other than the colour externally (and a big dent in her bottom!) Sky Wonder is exactly the same as she was when Pacific Sky even down to signage.

How much of Zenith's 'refit' is actually down to TPTB at Pullmantur? They had no say in getting the ship or losing the other 2, so it maybe a case of like it or lump it. Do Pullmantur ever use Freeport for refits? RCI do, but I would have thought if left to Pullmantur all would have been done in the Med.

As it is, the name just has to come off and be redone, it looks really bad and 'childish'. From photos anyway.

There are advantages too: If you want to build a model of her with Pullmantur livery, painting the model will be much easier.

I am probably alone in this but I actually like her better this way, except for the font they used for the name. I don't think she looks bad all white.
