Costa Pacifica’s bow is launched16/7/2007The first section of Costa Crociere’s new 3,780-passenger ship, due for delivery in spring 2009, was launched today at Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard. The company also used the occasion to announce the name of the new vessel: Costa Pacifica.

Interestingly, they launched the bow the old fashioned way. It slid down rails into the water. (I'd love to see a video of that.) There is a photo online, but I dare not post it here. They don't like their photos copied.
Searching tell me the section launched is 127m & weighs almost 8,000 tons. So nearly half her total length, not just 'the bow'.

I'm waiting with many "impatience" the new class Costa Luminosa.Any picture ? The construction has started in Marghera since april 2007.
