She is certainly still very openly for sale but until she is sold, Costa will undoubtedly keep releasing new itineraries for her. She certainly does move around a lot, having spent 2006-2007 in Southeast Asia (during which time, I am told, Lin Arison sailed in her), 2007-2008 she will be in the Seychelles, 2008-2009 in South America... If she makes it to 2009-2010 with Costa it will be interesting to see where she winds up !
The only thing I can think of, aside from price, that may impede her sale is that her engines are nearing 40... I imagine ALLEGRA would realize rather more as her engines are 25 years newer and also she has various other improvements (including having been "stretched"). She is also known to be for sale, though apparently not as urgently as her sister.
COSTA CLASSICA is again widely known to be for sale. No word on ROMANTICA or EUROPA but I imagine they are for sale as well. But obviously MARINA is what Carnival would most like to get rid of, albeit apparently not urgently enough to offer her at a price anyone has taken (yet).
If not a start up line then P&O Aussie better watch out, given their new CEO was been making statements about how they are going to expand dramatically in the next couple of years they all might end up down under.
Why not send the older Costa ships to South Africa or Australia and run them under a new company name on the style of Ocean Village cruises.
I am sure the younger crowd in these countries would like some cheap cruises.
