What is the bar directly below the Sunset Bar? It looks like there are tables and chairs, couches and a bar to one side, all outside. Looks pretty nice.

This area hasn't been "officially" announced yet, but basically it's the Lido Cafe, or buffet restaurant.

It is indeed very interesting. Like you I am nevertheless also a bit concerned whether the open deck space is sufficient. One can only hope that most passengers stay on their balconies. Thanks for posting these screen shots.

Those are some different looking lifeboat devits. is there any kind of conventional promenade deck? I know its not a wraparound, but it looks like the only view may be blocked by the low position of the lifeboats. Poor design if you ask me--a way of squeezing even more balconies above.

SA is also a very good looking ship, although Solstice's stern has a longer tail extension, which looks very good. I feel as if I were looking at a yacht, you can tell Martin Francis had something to do with her.

Why is she flying a Cayman flag in the renderings? I suppose she will be registered in Nassau.

How could you spot it as the Cayman flag from the picture? The first thing I thought of was Bermuda.

Good eye!

Well, that is the Sally Albatross.

I do not see how her stern is similar to the stern of the Solistice class. It is actually very different.

I certainly can't tell what it is, other than that it's a defaced Red Ensign. Could be the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, or any number of other things.

But large merchant ships generally fly an undefaced Red Ensign if registered in these places, so entirely apart from the fact that she'll probably be registered in the Bahamas, whatever she's flying makes no sense.

Very remotely - they are similar like many, many sterns are similar. The 'collar' or duck tail on the Solistice stern is actually rather unique.

I cant remember another cruise ship that had, or has ever had, a stern that angled so obliquely as these two have in common. Were there others? Maybe someone can refresh my memory. And I do remember another cruise ship having a duck tail type sponson but I cant remember the name?

This is of course true - finally, they wanted to buy Sally Albatross to become their first ship.

Other ships with a similar stern are maybe the Silversea ships (both types) - it is a bit far fetched as they are much less inclined.

There are quite some (and not all are additions to the stern) - the former Monterey , Prinsesse Ragnhild, Athena ex Stockholm has a massive addition at the stern (some would call that a duck tail) - like Holiday Dream ex Europa or some of the earlier Carnival ships - and many, many more.

And there is a "ducktail" on the Voyager class ships...although their stern is more like a '53 Buick than anything else.

The davits on the Solstice...looks like davits that are onboard the Vista-class ships...they don't look any different...

Thanks Ernie for the screen shots. Solstice and this class are certainly the best looking and with design onboard features and 'innovations' in a cruiseship for a long time.

I agree when it comes to the exterior - concerning innovations one must not forget AidaDiva. Not that Solistice is not innovative - but AidaDiva had many very new features. So it's maybe not a that long time.
