Has anyone received their invitation to the Independence launch events at Southampton yet?

I have been reliably informed that the event details are as follows:

Friday 25th April – 1 night event
Saturday 26th April – 1 night event
Sunday 27th April – 1 night event
Monday 28th April – 2 night sailing
Wednesday 30th April – 2 night sailing

I thing the Saturday night is the day that selected Diamond Plus Crown & Anchor members are invited, does anyone know who gets invited on the other days?

Does anyone know when the actual naming ceremony will take place, champagne bottle and all!

The naming ceremony is on Wednesday April 30, though Royal Caribbean prefer the champagne to be drunk by their guests rather than splattered on the hull.

Thanks Greybeard, you seem to get invited to many of the major events, I have seen many pictures of you, mainly in Turku.

As ID is due to sail at 17:00 on 30th April I presume the naming ceremony is a fairly low key event some time during the day. Is there usually much to see shore side or does most of the pomp and ceremony take place onboard?

Do you know who the godmother is?

Pity she will not be there on 29th, seems Summit is only ship in port that day & I will have nothing to photograph. Eric

Here you go some details for the 30th April-2nd May

Royal Caribbean Cruises

The Steve Redgrave Fund has been adopted by Royal Caribbean Cruises as an official charity for the next 2 years, with an amazing event to launch the partnership set to take place on board the largest cruise ship in the world - Independence of the Seas.

During its inaugural sailing, the ship will play host to a two-day charity cruise (April 30th - May 2nd) including a private VIP champagne reception to view the ship's official naming ceremony and a black tie celebratory dinner and auction.
