Check out this site Nautical Cities. I really like how you can compare different ships. I think the elevations are great, and cannot wait for them to finish up more of them. Very cool...

Can't wait for them to have more. The difference in size is really amazing, yet RCI keeps the same design language for every ship. I added Titanic for some fun.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for exploring our site. We are a team of two people working hard at expanding our content (and working real jobs as well) so we appreciate the feedback. I do the illustrations so if there are any requests let me know. (There's a little bit of a backlog but I'll try my best).

We also have a facebook app we released this week that lets you add the illustrations to your profile as well as counters to upcoming sailings.

Check it out;

myShips facebook app

Our images are licensed through creative commons so you are free to use them if they are for personal use as long as you don't make changes and attribute the site by hot linking the image. In other words, if you want to ise them in blogs, etc, feel free.....

It's a cool site and for those of you that have Facebook profiles, you can add a little widget (or whatever it's called) that shows the ships you've been on.

Right now it is too much a "work in progress" for me to use it (many ships I've been on are missing, it requires you to choose things like a "destination" from a very incomplete list, etc.) but it is a great idea and if the glitches get smoothed out I certainly will add it.

Thanks Doug,

Let us know which glitches need smoothing and we'll break out the sand paper.

I am happy to see the users of cruisepage have discovered our site. I lurk here all the time looking for information. Its members are by far the most knowledgeable of any online cruise community when it comes to ship knowledge.

Craig your site is really great! I just spent almost an hour just looking through it. Your illustrations are really good and are great in comparing the size of different ships.

Good job!

Doug,

I do not think is is right to criticize and pick apart NauticalCities great work. Try to resist just for once. It is most annoying that you do so on tirvialities. Remember the LinersList lament of yesterday.

It takes a lot of work to do those renderings, and if NC has to work like most people the process is slow. He has contributed more to the cruise enthusiast community than you ever have or will. Other than a list of classic ships what have you contributed?

My suggestion would be to make the "destination" field optional - an exhaustive list of destinations is impossible to compile, so there will always be some missing.

For me the ones that are missing are Bermuda and "Nowhere".

As for the missing ships, I am sure that is something that will change over time.

Oh for heaven's sake, all I said is that it was a work in progress. Is that even a criticism?

Maybe you could resist the opportunity to criticize me and rant about how you think I don't contribute anything for once!

If Craig is offended I apologize, but I assume that if he were he would have said so himself.

Craig,
There are some old timers you might consider. Like the Regal Empress of Imperial Majesty, and then the ships of old Dolphin/Premier Cruises, like the Island Breeze, Ocean Breeze, Sea Breeze, SeaWind Crown and Oceanic. A fun little ship that a lot of young people have sailed on is the Discovery Sun for Discovery Cruises. But all in all I think it is a great site, and a great application on Facebook.

Criticism is important. It will make the product better and we can take it.

All suggestions are important and even though we know there are shortcomings that people see, it helps us prioritize the items on our todo lists when they mention them.

Keep it coming.

The elegant thing about this awesome webpage is that it is simple and straight forward. Just leave it like that and don't add unneeded and distracting features.

Craig - I am glad you took my comment in the spirit in which it was intended.

And I agree with Ernst - your site has a beautiful, simple design. It is one of the best I have seen in a long time.

I think that you might have made an error in the crew size of Adventure OTS and Explorer OTS, the crew is listed as 1885, it should be more like 1185 unless those two ships added another 700 crew members that i dont know about....

Wow, I love this facebook application. This is a pretty cool application. You should make it so you can invite more than 10 people though, i cant even invite all my friends from my last cruise.

NC, are you guys going to add the pictures of the older ships, IE Legend OTS, Granduer OTS, Tropicale?

Thanks IBcrazy. I fixed the crew numbers. 1185 is correct.

The 3 ships you mentioned are on the site. I am trying to get the most ships on there as possible so you'll see gray outlines (ghost ships) until I get to illustrating them. There's a lot of ships out there but the ghost ships allow us to get the most content out there in the mean time.

The 10 invite limit is facebook's, unfortunately. They limit it to keep new app developers from mass spaming members. I think it's a daily thing so give it a try tomorrow. Thanks for passing it along.

Yeah, most applications it seems to be 20 so i figured it was something that you could adjust but evidently not. It is a daily thing so here in about an hour or so i will send out some more.

I appreciate all the hard work that you have put into this, thanks.

That is a really cool site!

Thad and Carlos: can you make those compilations directly on the site, or do you have to do some DIY?

Thanks for the compilation of all the Vistas/Spirits!
Can someone do a compilation of all the Carnival destiny derivatives please please?

Brgds.
Ralph
