Why the little jab?? It could be also filled w/loud drunk Aussies, boring Canadians or fat Mexicans as well.

They would just fill the interior with more cabins and passengers? Same old, same old more like a stretched (fill in the blank)-class ship... The same could be said about Holland-America and Celebrity and Princess and NCL and even most of all previous RCCL ships. All of the cruise lines have generated (yes I have to say it) CLONES: stretched, modified, enlarged, enhanced, altered, and added on to a previous design, CLONES. Even SOLSTICE cannot be compared to this floating mega-box boat. This ship is unigue in cruising history. It will be the first of its kind, and any attempt in comparison to any other cruise ship design is an exercise in futility and ignorance. All cruise ships and liners built to date cannot compare and we dont even know the half of what this ship is going to offer. [ 06-11-2008: Message edited by: dmwnc1 ]

No nerve. Just get bored and tired (most of us have ) of the haters always bashing Carnival. We get it, got it months ago. Last year. You dont like Carnival, the ships, the decor, the whatever. We could write a book using the hateful and lowly adjectives used to describe their interiors. I dont especially look to them as my first choice either, agree their interior decor is a bit over the top, but I dont bash them in every thread. Opinions are indeed of a personal nature, but to see that 'dead horse' bashing from Carnival-haters being kicked every time, over and over again, gets old. Real old. Really really old. We have agreed we cant do anything about ship design, nothing, and with the last of the forseeable newbuilds scheduled for around 2012 I'd say we are stuck with what we have, like'm or not. There are very very few ships that have come out in the last decade that are particualty beautiful or even attractive. We adjust our tastes because we get used to them. And its not so much the exteriors that even matter anymore. Entertainment, food, and available deck space matter, and for that matter, Carnival has gotten better reviews recently from CT members than Royal Caribbean and Princess. And as for design, these two new RCCL monoliths are as boxy as they come. Not very attractive. Look like a Whatever-of-the-Seas on steroids. It is what is on the interior that counts. Cruise Talk members have expressed low expectations of newbuilds based on computer imagery of interiors and exterior photography, only to come back from them with amazing reviews, or at the least, changed opinions. Pride of America, Queen Victoria, even recent shots of the interiors of the Eurodam have swayed opinions that were first laid when the keel was. Carnival has a loyal following, and sure to some they may be cranking out "unimaginative and boring" clone after clone, but without their financial backing (and clones), many of the cruise lines we all enjoy today would be stagnant at best, or non-existant.

Note that the doors for balconies are sliding doors, or seem to be if my eyes are not playing a trick on me. Here's the image.
They look like sliders. If you look at the sixth deck of balconies in the middle of the photo, it looks like one cabins has the door slightly open. Looks like a slider to me. Since Royal has placed sliders on all the Voyager, Radiance and Freedom I hope that they do not change. I do not like the hinge doors.
