For clarification:

Loft suite will be located indeed before known as "Viking Crown" area on decks 17 and 18 just above Windjammer restaurants.

"FlowRyders" wil be on "Sports Deck 15" aft of the ship, and jogging track is on deck 5 as i allready said before!

I wonder why people comparing Oasis to land resorts and saying that it wount feel like ship at all.
I think when you are cruising on "smaller","mid.size" ships, you deffenetly don't stay near window and stare ocean all the time. You are probably enjoy some drinks or snacks in bar/restaurant where from you even might not see outside.

If the ship feeling means swinging and rocking over the waves, then maybe we have to develop some new "rocky cabins" for you

But seriously, on OASIS will be probably more ocean view public areas that eny other ships may have.

Keep posting images of cruise ships people, specially from europe, have a nice summer!

Is there not going to be a Viking Crown lounge? Also what is the area that is directly above the Aqua Theater that has windows? It stretches across to both sides of the ship. It can be seen in the photo below.

I'm with you AkerBuilder, Oasis does seem to have great connection with the sea, from the Boardwalk Aqua Theater and all the spaces above with glass. People confuse CP to not not being at sea, but what's better, an interior stateroom there like the other ships? It's good to hear that deck 5 will be open with the jogging track (this is the traditional exterior promenade).

Well Akerbuilder,
I am certainly not trashing RCI (how could I since it is my favorite cruise line) but just because I call it a theme park doesn't mean I won't recognize the innovation on it.

It is just not for me. What belongs on a cruise ship for me to make it feel like a cruise ship?

For one I love sail away party on the sun deck having the option to look down at the pool deck with the band or over look the port. I have the option to look port or star board when sailing away or go to the bow enjoy the breeze or go aft and enjoy the wake. This is for me the start to a cruise. I hardly see that manageable with a split pool deck and no obvious sun deck. Will a sail away be the same at the aqua theatre? No, because of the options missing.

I also like the Promenade Deck where I can step out at night from the Casino and enjoy the breeze or walk along the Promenade deck from one venue to another.

I don't see that feature on Oasis.

I am not talking about sitting on your balcony and stare at the ocean which of course Oasis can provide.

Oasis is focused inwards. Some of the traditional features are gone.

The Royal Promenade on the Voyager Class and Freedom Class is a neat feature which I enjoy once in a while but it is not the place where I spend the majority of my time. And even on those two classes as big as they are you have those features which are of utmost important to me and makes me feel like I am on a cruise ship.

What really bugs me is that RCI is dragging those releases out. Just say what is on it and thats it.

They are coming out with pricing on September 3 and nothing really has been released.

Unless you can provide us with more info.

But we really do not know if the promenade deck is exterior or not or covered by life boats.

Most of the connection to the sea comes through the huge number of balcony cabins to the outside.

This whole 'release' thing is bugging the crap out of me. It gets extremely annoying. It is fun to speculate when they started building but we are now less than 3 months (for C & A members even earlier) before booking opens and a lot of Oasis is still unknown.

From renderings and constructions pics it looks like the jogging track will be behind the boats. The boats appear to be hung 1/2 over the sides of the ship w/a walkway (possible jogging track or mustering stations) inward of the boats.

No different than it was with the Freedom. RCI just gave out bits and pieces at a time on the website. They are doing this to keep interest in the ship and by releasing it a little at a time it keeps people talking about it. Good and bad.

True but it looks like there will be areas where there are no life boats to block the view.

Looking at the glass in the renderings I can't tell if that is a single or double floor space directly below the loft suites. What are your guesses, will the Windjammer be one or two floors? I hope it's only one or that they put food on both floors. I believe it was the Carnival Victory that I was on that had a one floor buffet with two seating floors. It was horrible looking for seats and then having to carry everything up the stairs to check for seats up there. Everyday it seemed like someone was dumping all their food.

So clarify a bit more. Are we seeing the end of the VC Lounge, or will there simply be less space, or a different version of it?

If anything could spoil this ship for me, at least in terms of the thing I'm looking forward too, it would be the loss of my favorite space on the ship. It would be sad to no longer be able to go to the top of the ship and look down on the world going by.

It depends on what you define the VC by. I define it by being a round glass area above the ship. For me it is still there. If you define it by the clubs then I think it may be dead for you. It seems that Royal Caribbean has decided to use the big areas (Central Park, Boardwalk, and Royal Promenade) as the hubs to go to all the clubs. That is why the On Air Club, while being a perfect companion to Studio B, is now located in the Promenade. If it is true that the VC is the loft suites on top with the Windjammer below then the clubs have all been moved out to the main areas. I think it is a great decision, it will allow the Windjammer much more room and give it incredible views that everyone gets to enjoy. While the VC was great it always seemed like those clubs were under used since it was out of the way from the general nighttime foot traffic. A lot of people seemed to enjoy the VC but I think it was for the view more than the club, so if they add a bar to the Windjammer like they did on the Freedom Class people could still sit up there all day and look at the views.

I don't think the Viking Crown Lounge itself is gone, I am guessing this is the area forward of the Lofts. The Viking Crown would never be gone from Royal Caribbean, it is the original trademark that defines the line, if something it will continue to evolve. "Ride a Skyscraper".

I have been reading many posts here and there about Oasis not being a ship, well, I see all the components that make up a ship. Oasis IMO is the evolution of the modern cruise ship, offering a wide variety of amenities that had never been thought could be in a ship, it's like the evolution from sail to steam in different scale and proportion, innovative, yes, the ship itself is the innovation.

What about the main dining room? We are used to having spectacular dining rooms on Voyager and freedom class ships, but the space it used to occupy is gone. Is it going to be in the forward section of the ship or somewhere in the Centrum between Royal Promenade and Boardwalk?

There will be one big dining room in addition to several small specialty restaurants. It has been confirmed by Mr. Fain in a recent interview that RCI will NOT go the small-restaurant-only-route.

According my information the main dining room will be below the baordwalk in the area of the last three lifeboats (behind them aswell as below).

Greetings,
YoShip.

Wow, does that mean RCI will keep the traditional two sittings with the dining room holding 50% of the guests for each sitting? That's going to be one very big dining room!

I'd be surprisedif RCI abandonrd the big wow dining room, but less surprised if there were staggered seating times to lessen pressure on the ktichen.

Maybe 3 seatings. 5-6:30PM 6:30-8:00PM and 8:00-9:30PM. If Oasis is fully booked I don't think the dining room can accomodate 6000 people if they only have 2 seatings. 3000/seating. Granted some passengers will go to other food venues. CHOPS etc.
Maybe in the future all your dining wil be pay as you go. Oops, I shouldn't have said that!!!

Dinner at 5!? I always though that was afternoon tea time.

PS: I don't think that serving all these people in 2 seatings will be a problem in a project like this, a problem would be evacuation in an emergency or something like that...

I dont think that the dining room is going to be that much larger then the current one on Freedom OTS, Genesis only holds like 1800 more pax, add in the fact that we are looking at probably 10 specialty restaurants VS 3 (Chops, Portifino, Johnny Rockets) on freedom. Oasis is going to have;
*Sushi bar
*Johnny Rockets
*Seafood Shack
*Portofino
*Chops
*Cafe promenade
*150 central Park
*Central Park Cafe
*Antonios Table
*Windjammer
*there are always a select few tat elect to do room service....

Plus we still dont even know half of what is going to be on this ship, i'm sure that RCI still has a lot more up their sleeve.

My point is that you aren't going to see 3000 pax in the dining room, i think that you will be lucky to see 2000 in a seating, which when compared to freedom is only a couple hundred more people. Its not going to be that drastic of a difference.

Also if you look at the first picture of the back of boardwalk and you zoom in on the top you can make out the Beach break Bar and it looks as if there are going to be two flowriders on either side of this bar, you can see the stadium like bench seats on both sides of it.

* Looking back at the night picture both of these flowriders are equipped with some heavy duty flood lights to provide plenty of light and allow surfing late into the night. on freedom this does not exist and they shut flowrider down in the evening. it will be interesting to see if there is that much demand for a midnight surf...

Maybe there will be a pair of split level dinning rooms, like the duel rooms on the Sovereign class, but bigger, with more open space. You could stagger dinning hours of the two large dinning rooms, avoid massive blocks of people showing up to three decks worth of entrances.

The dining room will probably be on decks 3,4,5...RP is on 5, and CP is on 6, as is Boardwalk. The dining room should be the same set up as Voyager and Freedom.

I bet there will still be only 2 seating times. like ibcrazy said. there was plenty of other places for people to eat.

Also, i thought flowrider on freedom class did have flood lights? Im pretty sure I remember going after dinner one night...will be really cool if there is 2 flowriders though

Royal Caribbean is already testing a flexible dining program called "My Time Dining". They consider it a success and it will be implemented fleet-wide. Rest assured OASIS will have this feature, and it might even be expanded to the next level.

My Time Dining works a little different than other cruise lines. Those passengers who opt out of traditional first and second sitting for dinner actually choose a specific dining time and then keep that dining time for the entire cruise unless the change the reservation (which they can do on a daily basis). This certainly keeps everyone from arriving at once.

We are signed up for this on the Freedom in November. I am anxious to see how it works with RCI but so far the reports from guests who have tried it have been very positive in most cases.
