Their new build currently under construction will be called Marina which goes nicely with their current fleet. At last a nicely named ship.

Lets hope they resist putting the web address / tag line / logo etc on the hull.

Mike

The ship is actually going to be christened OCEANIA MARINA. Unfortunately, like Celebrity, Carnival et all, they are placing the company name first, so no doubt in due course they will have OCEANIA REGATTA, OCEANIA INSIGNIA and OCEANIA NAUTICA.

Why oh why do these people play silly buggers with what are nice names!!

I was thinking little puppet mermaids !?

Shame about the Oceania, the names stand alone just fine.

Could be worse, Prestige Oceania Marina ! Could still see the website address on the hull then........

I just hope that now we won't see a CARNIVAL MARINA and/or MARINA OF THE SEAS!

Obviously Tim will be able to confirm but as far as I know the ship is going to be MARINA, not OCEANIA MARINA. The press release Oceania issued today certainly refers to her just as MARINA.

I like the name and the ship herself should be great too. There are pics of cabin mock-ups on Peter Knego's INSIGNIA blog - the standard cabin and bathroom are nicer than the penthouses on the current Oceania ships! (The only ships out there today with standard bathrooms like that are the Regent and Silversea ships and EUROPA and those occupy a totally different price range.)

The cabins look stunning. Much more to my taste than the current R-Class ships. The fitting out in the bathrooms looks almost exactly like those on SILVER SHADOW, except the SHADOW had two sinks.

I think my chances of sailing on MARINA are much greater than the existing Oceania ships which just don't appeal to me.

From Cruise Critic:

Oceania Cruises, whose highly anticipated newbuild -- its first ever for the fleet -- is under construction at Fincantieri's Sestri shipyard in Genoa, revealed this weekend that the vessel will be called Oceania Marina.

Let's hope CC is wrong!

Based upon their naming their ships after nautical words ending in "a", I think they are going to run out of names soon. What's next - Nausea?

Well, INSIGNIA isn't nautical.

Anyway, I vote for RIVIERA for the next ship.

The crew cabin shown is much bigger than the cabin I stayed in on the PRIDE OF AMERICA. I tried to upload a picture on the CT Photo Gallery for comparison, but no luck.
