With her floatout coming this Sunday, I thought it would be interesting to go back and see where she's been:

Nice timeline. It's awesome to see all those cam shots together. It looks like Solstice was built from end to end where as Oasis seemed to be more vertical.

Well when you are inside a building you are constrained by height, so that might have a bearing on why the SOLSTICE and many of the other MeyerWerft builds are built that way.

However with the Oasis of the Seas, she is being built in an open drydock! Solstice is really nice looking! I like the fact they are starting to take off the protective paper from the windows to reveal the colour of them. Gives very nice detail to the vessel. They could have painted the frames on the bridge Black though, it would have matched nicely.

You're welcome! I stopped taking grabs off the webcam about the same time the really good pictures starting getting posted that showed her from the front angles.

I'm in the middle of 5-16hour shifts in a row at work. I wont have time to grab any pics of her unveiling Sunday. I'm hoping our CT'ers out there grab plenty of coverage. I would love to see her floating around before, and then after, her funnel installation.

The undocking is at 1:30am EST or 7:30am Sunday over in Europe (Germany). I remember PamM I think made a mini-movie off of webcam images before? That would be cool if she could do it again. I'll be able watch it on my hand-held PDA but cant grab any images. Should be amazing to watch her come into full view into the sunlight for the first time!

Great selection of images, thanks. It wasn't me, perhaps Globaliser? I am not around tomorrow unfortunately to even be able to watch

I confirm it was Globaliser. He does the compilation for us all the time. I mean that is tedious work. He did compilations of the webcam images of the later Jewel Class ships as well as I think with either AIDAdiva or Bella.

It shows a great timeline with the construction.

If you click on the link for the big version of the aerial pic posted above you can see on the docks next to the tellow crane her two funnels waiting to be installed tomorrow...

Its cool to see her lifeboats all lined up on the wharf. I guess they are going to have to spin her around bow out to put them on?

Excellent picture! Thanks for finding that. I love arial shots. You can also see the starboard side lifeboats on the pierside ready to be loaded.

My only disappointment is that the pools look small and I think deck space will be an issue. "The Lawn" area will be quite large, as it appears to be everywhere you see grey on the aft end. The problem is "The Lawn" may not be the best use of space, although it will be unique.

She will be berthed at the fitting out berthe the way she came out of the dock.
The lifeboats for portside will be transported on land and than raised. Those on starboardside will be put into the water and than raised.

The Ems transport will be done stern first.

Excellent picture, especially the 'big' aerial one. I think I was able to identify the cabin we'll be in, come September 2009. But isn't she pretty!

One question: is this the biggest cruise ship Meyer have done? Most of their others seem to have been at or about Panamax, e.g. the NCL ships. This seems to be the first post-Panamax, 100,000+ tons cruise ship they've built.

Hi Folks,
Take a look at the big picture way to the left next to the lifeboats. You'll see a floating section of the
Equinox ready to float into place. They did the same thing with Solstice after the NCL Gem floated out. Also ther are several pieces of some ship
sitting in a parking area between two buildings
in the upper portion of the picture.

Solstice looks great but I agree with Ernie not much space by the pools. Can't wait to sail on her
Jan 4th.
I'm sure the stacks and mast will be just the right finishing touch for this wonderful ship.

Surely not as ugly as some I have seen. It's amazing how long the bulbous bows have become....it seems to reach to the tip of the bow! I agree with Ernie. Very little outdoor space for so large a ship. That top most deck will be very crowded indeed.

Don't forget that a portion of it will be covered with natural grass - which appears will be grown in trays based on the layout - and is unlikely to be designated for high-density activities.

Call me dense, Joe. I am not sure how this [the grassy areas] will make the outside decks less crowded. What am I missing?

I think he means the opposite - it will be even more crowded since a lot of the limited open deck space will be grass which can not be populated as densely as 'normal' deck space making the other areas even more crowded.
