The P.& O. Australia PACIFIC SUN seems to have just had a facelift and new paint job. See here:

YUCK! It looks so much better with the blue and yellow striping. And would someone at Carnival fix the funnel. UGH!

I agree. I like the previous livery much better. The line going down her sides gave her more leight. Now it looks very short and stubby.

I wonder if they're trying to create a greater visual link with the Princess brand which has been growing in Australia? When Pacific Dawn entered the fleet (former Regal Princess), she was also all-white with a white funnel.

Still, the former Jubilee looks terrible with her decapitated funnel, rebuilt aft, and slab-sided hull.

A stripe (even a small one) on the hull would break up that mass of white paint! The sponson at the stern really damaged her fragile looks and of course don't get me started w/that poor funnel

The HOLIDAY-class weren't terrible-looking ships as built (I certainly saw them enough times in their original form) but now PACIFIC SUN just looks weird. Well, she did in the previous livery too - I'm not sure this is any worse, except there aren't all those loud colors to take your attention away from the ugliness of the ship. Though it wouldn't be all that bad if it weren't for the funnel - that was rather shocking the first time I saw a photo of it!

The interiors are "interesting" too from what I've seen, a wholly incongruous blend of 1980s Farcus and 2000s Princess.

The shiop itselfis OK- but a new funnel would make it look much better...it looks kind of small and narrow (much like that of World Renaissance)...

Throws off the whole proportion of the ship.

In my opinion all white ships seem to look worse when they begin to show a bit of wear and tear on their paint, with rust and so and, whereas when they have other colours on their sides, as she used to, it seems to disguise any corrosion a bit more. She is gleaming, but will that last?

Does any one have any information on the changes she had during the refit?
I have "heard" that the the water slide has been removed and a new gym installed, but have not found anything to confirm that yet.

Great pictures of PACIFIC SUN. Her interiors has been significantly updated. It seems only a handful of rooms are leftovers from her Carnival days.

I really like the Outback Buffet and the Retreat.

bmajor, in the picture below, you can see the water slide is not there anymore.

Much of the ship looks better, a couple areas look worse (IMO), and some look untouched from her Carnival days.

The most significant and ugly remaining from the Carnival days are the big gold seahorses on either side of the stage in the showroom. I think these were even considered tacky when Jubilee was launched in 1986.

Even the carpet is the same as 1986 in the showlounge. I'm amazed that had more of it in stock, or it's just never been changed out which is hard to believe.

Oz and Terraces in the Grove are pretty much how I remember them. Oz may have some new (boring and generic) chairs but that is about it.

Thanks Waynaro.
I think it looks much better without the slide, and from what Ive heard it was closed more than it was used.

It may still be the original carpet Ernie.
Perhaps they have just shampooed it

Hey guys. I went on Pacific Sun when she first arrived after her 35million refit in 2004. Back then I didnt see the 35 million and looking at the pics after her recent refit I think nice but not enough to get me back. The only differences I see is the Oasis, no slide, gym, and coffee lounge, the outback and the various other rooms where converted in 2004. Also I would like to point out there is a daily fee to have access to the Oasis. Personally I appreciate Pacific Sun for what she is but at the end of the day when you can grab a twin on Sun Princess for the same $$$ or less what will you choose?

I'm actually surprised at how little has been changed over the years aboard JUBILEE! Looking through photos I took on board in June, 1986, just before she entered service, and most of the public areas are the same. As has already been mentioned, in the Atlantis Lounge they have the same carpet design and same upholstery, although I see the "mini-atriums" outside the lounge on port and starboard sides have been closed over; originally those were open, with trees growing up from the deck below.

Other rooms which remain unchanged are the library, Smugglers Cove, Oz, Terraces in the Grove. Even the signage is the same.

I do like the new look of the Oasis area, and the Lido is much nicer now.

Rich

Frankly with the choices available to Aussies now adays both full time and seasonal I wonder why anyone bothers. If she were the only ship no problem but (as mentioned above) given her fares are all but the same as Pacific Dawn and Sun & Dawn Princess,s I don't get it.

If she still cruised from sydney she would sail empty these days. The fact she is the only one that cruises from brisbane is her biggest draw for the locals (but then again its just a one hour flight to sydney). The other reason for locals to use her is she is closer to the south pacific less days at sea and more ports of call
