I feel this will be popular with Brits who are increasinly being attacted to Dubai for their holidays. One could pre or post onboard the QE2 if one could afford the room rate.

AIDAdiva will operate weekly cruises this winter from Dubai as follows:

Day 1: Dubai
Day 2: Dubai
Day 3: Muscat
Day 4: Abu Dhabi (overnight)
Day 5: Abu Dhabi
Day 6: Bahrain
Day 7: Dubai (overnight)
Day 8: Dubai

Costa Victoria will operate similar weekly itineraries with an additional port:

Day 1: Dubai
Day 2: Dubai
Day 3: Muscat
Day 4: Fujairah
Day 5: Abu Dhabi
Day 6: Bahrain
Day 7: Dubai
Day 8: Dubai

Since Dubai is the major attraction and with few other ports in the area with any significant tourism infrastructure, most ships overnight in Dubai on the first and last nights.

Emirates is beginning a new non-stop service betwen LAX and Dubai. I don't know how popular it will be for a holiday due to the flight time.

Thanks "ahrpd", This looks like a cash cow for several reasons. A - Cheap Fuel!, B- Not much mileage between ports, plus the long stays in Dubai.

Hmm... Now if I can just fly to Dubai for less then $2k.

I wonder if they will be using their new A380's?

I doubt they'd use such a large plane for a new service but you never know.

Dubai is the main pull & being on a ship is the cheapest hotel room! However an overnight in Muscat would be wonderful. There are also other places in the Gulf worth visiting [Kuwait, Bandar Abbas, Kish Island, Khasab], I am curious as to why Costa have not changed their itins since they began cruising ex Dubai. I did it in Dec 06 on Costa Classica, a wonderful superb holiday, shame about the ship. AIDA have removed Fujairah - there really isn't a lot there unless you enjoy ship spotting

These itineraries do not appeal to me at all. I sure wouldn't like to have a port overnight on the first and last night. And the rest is more like 'floating' very much like the Monarch West Coast 3/4 Nighters. Very fuel efficient but feel more like a cruise to nowhere.

I am not sure if those overnight stays are that much cheaper. If you cruise in a balcony the nightly cost are approx $150-$200 per person. That would make it $400 per person. I am sure I can find a decent hotel room for $400.

Flights
Currently for next summer round trip flights to Dubai from Miami range between $1100 and $1500 per person. Not that bad.

FLL a couple hundred dollars more.

NY is between $1000 and $1400.

Not too bad from the east coast.

BTW, the A380 is flying next year the North America route (I know at least of NY).

EDIT: Oasis or Allure would be a much better fit for Dubai.

BotS out of Dubai is tempting but I would want more than 7 days, we can fly direct from Durban - 9 hours.

Have friends in Oman it sounds wonderful place.

The flying time from Europe is in the region of 6-8 hours depending where from, of course. So a long flight, but more acceptable to many.

Hi Pam,

Can you tell me something about the Costa Classica as I will board the ship in 2009.

Sure they would. They'll land on the air strip aboard Oasis of the Seas.
