Glenn Straub originally bought the ship at auction but then sold it on to former Regency founder Anastasios N Kyriakides. He said he planned to have the ship refitted in Greece for service in the Med, but AIS shows ISLAND ADVENTURE is being towed to Freeport where she is due to arrive today (13th). It may be she is simply being readied for the long voyage to Greece?

Hi,
has it been really confirmed that Kyriakides has bought the ship? he was never a success, every shipping venture he touched after leaving Regency has failed miserably!! she was towed yesterday from Port Everglades to Freeport.....personally I doubt that "Tyki" will pull this one off. Who would finance him, given his reputation and present global financial mess??

Thanks for the update. Curious as to what will actually happen now - why was she towed, and not sail under her own power? No crew to man the engine room & quicker to move her by tug? or is it cheaper to hire a tug for that short distance anyway? but surely not if she comes across to Greece.

Yes it would be very interesting to know if Mr.Kyriakides did actually complete the purchase the ship from Mr.Straubb as he was the actual winning bidder. Maybe Mr.Straubb is the Actual owner, and she is going for a refit...which would make sense. Cause why would they take her to Freeport under tow then ready her to sail for Greece, you would think if she was going to Greece they would have a crew for her already as most ships do, Laid up or Not! Im sure it would be a whole lot easier for someone to sail her directly from Florida.

According to Equasis.org, the ship is owned by Burrell Shipping which was Straubb's company.

I guess that Kyriakides did not managed to get ownership of the ship?

No he didn't. The deal between Kyriakides and Straub fell through within a week, back in October. Straub has since said he wants to position the ship in either Port Everglades or Port Canaveral as an entertainment venue, but not a gambling operation. It would cater to the public and be available to private special or "members only" events.

Nothing much has happened since then.
