When the CROWN DEL MAR, was doing 2 and 5 day cruises, I think I had seen as many as 7 sitting in Nassau, that was in the late 80's when Crown Cruise Line was getting started, what about today??

I remember seeing a photo of 6 there a few years ago. THere was one against the pier near land. The first finger pier had a post-panamax on either size and outer finger pier had a post-panamax on the inner side and the outer side had 2 fantasy docked back to back.

I have seen as many as 9 ships in Nassau, when I worked aboard CROWN DEL MAR--we used to have to dock her on the West side of the harbor at the old coal docks, near Coral World, and there would also be a couple of ships at anchor in the basin, since the finger piers were filled.

Here is the famous 1985 post card view of 7 ships in port: SOUTHWARD, CARNIVALE, EMERALD SEAS, GALILEO, OCEANIC, SUNWARD II, and DOLPHIN IV.

Love it! The good ole days in Nassau.

Of course I bet today it would only take about three mega-ships to equal the passenger compliment of those seven ships. Times have changed. CARNIVALE, OCEANIC, and GALILEO were actually considered large ships.

Interesting I have been on every one of those ships, and sailed on six out of seven.

Was there back in 06 on the Jewel of the Seas. There were five ships in port when we arrived. The Fascination, Celebration, Norwegian Jewel, Sovereign and Majesty of the Seas. It was a full port after we docked. The Norwegian Jewel and Majesty OTS had to skip their calls at the private islands due to the rough seas and moved their port of call to Nassau.

Is that the New Shoram 2? Because we dock there to this day at the same location. I have seen The Regal Empress, Zenith, Norwegian Spirit, Disney wonder, Majesty of the Seas, a Carnival ship and us at all the same time.

Here is a pic I took last year while on SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS. Missing is the FASCINATION which was also in port. It was a busy day in Nassau!
