Hi & Happy Nnew Year all!
December was a admiralty auction in Mombasa, no news anywhere to find. Vessel is said to be moored at buoys at the inner anchorage in Mombasa.
Thx

Dan,

"Royal Star" was visible in some recent footage of a German Navy frigate in Mombasa shown in ZDF's "heute" news. "Royal Star" was visible in the background, so at least two weeks or so ago she was indeed in Mombasa, as reported.

Best,

Raoul

I am subscribed to a daily PDF shipping newsletter by Mr. Piet Sinke (it's nice, Google for it) and today it showed a picture of a rusty ROYAL STAR laid up at Mombasa. I don't know how recent the picture is, but I suspect it is quite new.

sept.17 - 2008 An advertisement inviting bidders carried in a local daily, will be required to rely on their own inquiries and may view the vessel at the port of Kilindini, where it is stationed since the judge issued the orders. The ship will be sold to the highest bidder. This info and more details are on my world wide fleetlist. However to avoid removing of this message as in the past it is not possible to give the link.

This thread should be renamed 'Spot Royal Star'

There are various news reports this week regarding the Likoni Channel ferry crossing problems, showing the photo below. The EXIF file says it was taken on 13 Jan 2010, so she is *still* sitting there

mv Royal Star is now named Ocean Mist and was bought by a local company when she was sold at the Admiralty auction.

She is expect to start cruising again in February 2010

More about her, and pictures of her on sea trials, are on the Australian maritime website or the website listed in my profile.
