I just returned today from a very enjoyable short cruise on the classic REGAL EMPRESS. I sailed with five other ship enthusiast and the six of us really had a fantastic time. A review will be forthcoming but attached is a link to the few pictures I took. I was having camera difficulties so I did not get to take nearly the amount of photos I had planned to. Luckily the other five people I traveled with did take a lot of photos so I will look forward to receiving those.

After the cruise I spent the night at the Westin Diplomat Hotel which I highly recommend, and then had a visit with my mother in Naples. I just got back to Atlanta today.

Can you tell what is different about CARNIVAL LIBERTY in this photo?

Good eye Thad!

Yes, new suites were added above the bridge. Honestly, I can't think of any cruise company that tacks on so many additions to existing ships as Carnival Corp. Maybe if they would actually design one properly from scratch they wouldn't have this problem. It's like the accountants study every aspect of the existing vessels and think of ways to exploit them.

Yes, driving and snapping a photo with my iPhone. Not very smart. I was coming to a stop at the light which I was very happy about, but then it turned green before I even stopped. Bummer.

Also in port were CELEBRITY CENTURY and LIBERTY OF THE SEAS.

On Shipspotting.com, there is a close-up picture of the addition. The 4 vertical windows makes the new suites stand out. It reminds me of the similar above-the-bridge additions on HAL's S-class ships.

OMG, the add-on on the CARNIVAL LIBERTY is hideous! Is this planned to be rolled out on all the Destiny class ships?

:-(

WOW...That is really ugly. And I thought things couldnt get worse then the N.Crown refurb. The Liberty makes the Crown's look elegant

Yes, it is ugly. Really ugly. However, if these suites really have a 'bridge wing' as balcony they might be amongst the most awesome accommodation aboard any contemporary cruise ship. (the window alone looks nice)

The windows don't seem to relate to any other windows in that area of the superstructure which is just bad design.

Black paint could partly fix that mess!

Great pics Ernie. I was onboard in Dec 2002 and really enjoyed exploring the ship. I especially liked the library and the piano bar. I was in U10, an inside. Looks like yours was outside but tiny!!
