i just found this photo on Flickr, she looks empty and deserted, look how high up out of the water she is. look at the NCL logo...
Is this the end for her? is she going to be the most modern cruise ship to be scrapped?

Having been laid up since November, NORWEGIAN DREAM left Freeport on 14 April and is due to arrive at Piraeus on 1st May - a very slow journey. This is an interesting development!!! I doubt she would call there en route to Alang.

Hope she stops at Gib for bunkers!!!

Of course she won't be scrapped just yet! If her owners just get a bit more realistic about her selling price, I'm sure she'll find some use soon enough (seems she already has!). Besides, in the past, cruise ships/ocean liners have sometimes been laid up for years and they still came back into service. It's just something we haven't seen happening lately with more recent tonnage.

It will be very interesting to see what she'll be doing in Piraeus!!! Maybe Louis after all???

Maybe if NCL reduces the price enough, Louis will actually buy her and lease her to Thomson

Interesting that she is headed for Piraeus.

I don't think she will be scrapped, she is still worth too much money. Even if she was sold for a fraction of what Louis originally agreed to pay, she could still fetch a lot more than her scrap value.

Also, the ship is owned by Star Cruises, not NCL. NCL no longer has anything to do with this ship as she was previously owned by Star and chartered to NCL (along with CROWN, WIND, MAJESTY and MARCO POLO).

Thomson don't need her in fact probably not for another 2-3 years. Seriously doubt Louis would want her for themselves.

I really wouldn't be surprised that she ends up on a beach sometime next year especially given the condition that she is reportedly in.

In fact I would bet she ends up in Asia trading for Star before she ends up in Europe.

STAR itself has 3 ships being laid up I wonder whether they have any capacity to takeover NCL's old tonnages.

Tony

Tony, this is about 305 nautical miles a day if you're in the ship's pool, or an average speed of say 12.7 knots.

She's not riding any higher out of the water than usual and it is standard practice to paint out the logo. She is no longer an NCL ship, she is owned by Star Cruises.

Thanks Tim, that's about what I thought they were asking, but the business side of me said "no, they are smoking crack if they are asking that much"

Pass the pipe please !

I always liked the look of the Dream, but way way way to much money for this ship.

Last year Star thought it had sold her to Louis for $218m. I guess times change.

(Mind you I think even in good times that was a lunatic amount for this ship.)

She has been for sale ever since she was pulled from Hawaii. Her ownership reverted to Star who has been trying to sell her ever since. She is just chartered back to NCL while Star tries to find a buyer.

I think the original asking price was $320m.

Apparently DREAM is on her way to Athens. What that means I don't know. Perhaps just a lay-up.

As far as I know she is owned by NCL.

(And of course she is the former SUPERSTAR LEO, not VIRGO.)

I wonder if a charter has been arranged for Norwegian Dream and she will take the place of Vision Star which should have been cruising for Mediterranean Classic Cruises but has gone to Quail cruises and been renamed ' Gemini '.

Mediterranean Classic cruises are listing 3 & 4 day cruises available in May but no details of which ship they are using !
