Next winter, CDF Croisière de France will have two cruises ships : Bleu de France and Pacific Dream.

From february to may 2010, Pacific Dream will sail for CDF from La Romana to Martinqiue, Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Tortola.

Bleu de France, who should be on this itinerary, will pass the next winter in Red sea.
From january to march 2010, Bleu de France will sail from Charm el Sheikh to Suez, Safaga and Aquaba

I tkink that it's a very exciting itinerary.

From november 2009 to january 2010, Bleu de France will sail from Le Pirée to Alexandrie, Port Saïd, Ashdod, Limassol and Rhodes

The itineraries sounds really good. Will the PACIFIC DREAM receive a new name and "French" makeover for her service with CDF?

Is PACIFIC DREAM the former OCEAN DREAM/COSTA TROPICALE/etc...?

Wayne,

"Pacific Dream" is the former "Horizon".

Best,

Raoul

I am very happy to hear CDF Croisieres de France will add a second ship. Although I never liked Horizon nor Zenith, they do have nice sized cabins. They are both terrible sea-boats if the truth be told.

PACIFIC DREAM ... silly name. How about RÊVE DE LA PACIFIQUE?

OK, that also sounds silly but at least it is French!

How about just HORIZON? Now that's a nice name, and it works in French and English.

Given Bleu DF is not as yet running full it is quite brave to add another vessel, perhaps they feel the itineraries will help sell the second ship - or perhaps they are looking around and asking themselves where the hell are we going to put this ship that we have no use for ?

With the current swine fever issue, PACIFIC DREAM can't start her proposed programme to the Mexican Riveiera from Acapulco and she has been idle at Colon, Panama, since she left Grand Bahama Drydocks a couple of weeks ago. What will she do for the rest of the year?

Pullmantur have now tried and failed to get a Mexican Riviera programme from Acapulco off the ground with three ships - OCEAN DREAM, SKY WONDER and now PACIFIC DREAM.

Are CDF part of the RCI empire, or linked to them? I ask because their recent ship movements have been safely within their own group: they bought Pullmantur to get hold of the R ships, with which they then started a new line; Zenith went to Pullmantur; Horizon went to Island Cruises, a wholly-owned subsidiary; and Galaxy went to TUI Cruises, a joint venture.

mike sa.....grammatically, that would have to be Bleu d'Espagne. I'm not too trilled with the "Bleu de" theme and haven't been since the beginning. Hope it doesn't continue. It seems they could have come up with a better name than Bleu de France.....OMHO.

Since oceans are masculine in French, Doug, that would have to be RÊVE DU PACIFIQUE.

NAL - agreed, and I was always hopeless at French, Zulu being more my thing.

It is nice to see France (as in French) being used, a French line with French names for French speaking pax. Unlike say Pullmantur - from the ships names you would think they were English or American.

I am assuming the "Bleu" bit is "Blue" ? In whihc case they will have to go with colours (or colors if you live in the US).

How about ILE DE FRANCE then NAL? The theme should be "de France" and not "Bleu du" - although this is only a winter charter, HORIZON would have been good as Doug said. Wonder how many French-Canadians they'll get this season? The HORIZON has almost twice the berthing capacity of the BLEU.

RCI established CDF last May to specifically target the French market. Management of the brand comes under the Pullmantur umbrella, itself acquired by RCI in August 2006.

Thanks for the clarification Raoul. She will be a good addition to CDF. Please change the ship though!
