See there are concerns with PD and flu.

14 confirmed cases of H1N1 amongst crew/pax that disembarked at termination of last cruise and now 3 influenza A cases among crew still on board with more feeling unwell.

She has had to miss a port as a result but is currently going to complete the cruise.

Must be pretty bad luck as didn't think there were many cases in Aussie but suppose a new crew member could have brought it on board ?

This is starting to look like the ship is needing to go into quarantine.

Hope it does not go the way of the ss Oronsay where we swung round the anchor for three weeks with two yellow flags flying !

We were in Vancouver harbour and had an outbreak of typhoid on board !

The whole thing is a bit of a mess.

Arguable P&O and NSW Dept of Health mucked it up when PD arrived in SYD on Monday. Pax were free to go and even if they had flu-like symptoms were told to go home and quarantine themselves there. In some cases this meant pax flew home to Melbourne or Brisbane on domestic flights before quarantining themselves.

The ship was allowed to depart without crew being tested and unsurprisingly some crew have now developed swine flu and have potentially passed it onto all those pax who boarded on Monday.

The cruise is now virtually a cruise to nowhere as the Queensland Dept of Health have asked the ship miss calls in the Whitsundays and Cairns. The ship will now head straight to the deserted weather station at Willis Island which is only included in coastal cruises as it is outside Australian waters and therefore entitles the cruise lines to sell duty-free onboard.

Sounds like the beginning of one of those Sci-Fi movies that ends up with the world's population dying and whats left being run by Mad Max.

PD is now returning down the Qld coast and will arrive into SYD several days early.

Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia has released a 4 minute statement on YouTube that is available from the P&O Australia website

A passenger with an arm injury has now forced PACIFIC DAWN to call into North Queensland. The authorities had been trying to avoid this as North Queensland has been flu-free so far.

24 pax from the previous cruise have been confirmed with H1N1, there are 3 crew on board who were tested positive for H1N1 are are now recovering/recovered.

PD will retirn to Sydney on Monday - 3 days earlier than scheduled.

Bloody media though - "Swine Flu Ship" - the 2001 version of Plague Ship ? So much for responsible journalism.
