Thank you! She is coming along nicely and from what I can tell very true to the renderings.

Like almost all RCI ships, I think the dining room will be stunning.

This ship is very nice thanks for the pics Aker Builder. However the pool deck is really small, imagine on a hot sunny day at sea where is everyone going to go!? This ship isnt anywhere near done so it will be hard to pass too much judgement but what I have seen isnt as great as the renderings make them seem. I wish the best for Oaiss

The pool deck shown in the picture is only one of six pool areas. That is the main pool deck. There will be more pools on OASIS then any other ship afloat.

Equal in size to the main pool is the Sports Pool and Beach Pool, then there is the H2O Zone. Next is the Solarium pool area which is all the way forward and adults only. Rounding out the pool areas is the Aqua Pool, which will be the largest pool afloat. At night it's used for shows and the floor actually drops to make it deeper. During the day it's a pool for all passengers and the floor rises so it's not so deep. The tiered area around the Aqua Pool becomes a massive sunbed during the day with unique chairs that are loungers by day, and stadium seating at night.

In addition there are two flowriders, two rock climbing walls, the zip line, plus Central Park, Boardwalk, ice skating and a huge spa, massive casino and many dining establishments to keep everyone occupied. I don't think there will be any problem dispersing people around the ship during the day.

Ernie

Something new to start making rumors about about. As I was looking at the new photos posted by AKer Builder I noticed something off in the one. Check it out:

More specifically this part:

It is only on one of the two towers and if you look at any of the other pictures of the sea trial (though from farther away) the object can still be spotted on only one tower so it is not some construction left over. At first I though maybe it was equipment for a possible parasailing since it has that gun looking thing and a big box possibly to store equipment. Then I realized that there does not appear to be any passenger friendly way to get up there so I began thinking. That appears to be able to rotate but in it's current position would be able to shoot something over the viking crown lounge. Could this be a possible firework launcher? Disney already does it but I can't seem to find any information on how they do it. What does everyone else think it is?

My Irish heritage blessed (?) me with pale skin, so pools and pool decks were never really important on sunny days. Also suffering from near permanent migraines after a head injury over 10 years ago, real bright and sunny days often give me a headache. Sad mess I am huh? I always enjoyed a nice deck chair if a promenade was available or the ships fine interior space offerings. I imagine not everyone will be heading for the pools. ;-)

Fireworks launcher would be kool.

Perhaps it is a harpoon being so close to the "beach" !

If it is I would want to shoot down the blimp. Not keen on that looks very odd and I am suprised they would get insurance.

Altold is looking very good and it will certainly change the way we look at cruise ships.

Sorry to dissapoint you. Fireworks launcher would be a great idea, but it is only "crane ´PALFINGER´" and it will be used for lifting threes and e.t.c. in and out from CP.

There's now an option of jumping inboard or overboard.

Did I miss this or is the blimp one of the new attractions? Looks like a big gondola?

If Royal Caribbean moves ahead with that blimp thing, how much you want to bet it's a bungee jumping platform? That would be totally extreme!

Come on. Don't you think the blimp would be a great view and wonderful feature? After all, Royal Caribbean started with a reputation for great views with their Viking Crown Lounge. Just imagine the blimp with a name, logo, and the best views at sea:

I imagine they could charge a big ticket price for a blimp ride but the liabilty clause disclaimer would be a doosey, including static lightning, unexpected wind gusts or blimp deflation, bird strikes, etc., etc.

The pictures of the Boardwalk, in particular, make me wonder what the GRT of Oasis would be if Boardwalk and Central Park were to be enclosed with glass. I think that figure would give a more accurate reflection of her true size than the 220,000 that is quoted... after all: how many other ships have great gaping holes running the length of them?

For something of her size and bulk i think she is rather shapely and even attractive and her stern is surely one of the best looking - onboard or off - of any large ship in recent years.

Thanks for the news Aker Builder. I guess this proves the idea did not work after all, but it's always good to come up and introduce new concepts and test them out, if they don't work good but if they work even better.

I agree Carlos. This idea seemed far fetched (as did an ice skating rink when I first heard about it), but it's this out-of-the-box thinking that I applaud companies like RCCL, NCL, and AIDA for.

I wasn't very confident it would work but at the same time I was hoping it would. There would have been a incredible view of the ship from up there. It would have been awsome!

This from Richard Fain's blog about OASIS .....

quote:

Hull Number 1363 (soon to be known as Oasis of the Seas) has just completed her sea trials and is now back at her berth in Turku. Most of the trials were a terrific success. The ship performed her various tests very well and everyone is very excited.
BUT, we had one nasty surprise early this morning. I previously mentioned that we were thinking of adding an aerostat to the ship and were doing a test to see if it was practical/desirable. It required a lot of temporary rigging but they managed to put a test balloon on the ship. Here is a picture of the ship leaving Turku with the aerostat attached.

Then this morning, something happened and the balloon broke free. It ended up in the water and we are now taking steps to recover it and determine what happened. This is precisely why we do such tests (and why I don’t take credit until we know whether or not they are successful).
The experience onboard during the sea trials was amazing. I look forward to writing about it soon.

Yes, the idea of the ice skating rink was a far fetched as this one if not more at the time. When the idea was presented there was an ice rink set up at the parking lot of the corporate offices at the port, this was when the Eagle class ships were being designed (if I remember correctly). I'm sure there were doubts at first if it would work or not but this was a complete success.

From an architectural point of view the aerostat is an eyesore but from a passenger point of view it would've been an amazing experience. As far as we know the idea is still not written off; the aerostat can be used while the ship is docked or anchored. Another idea could be to place the aerostat at Labadee and/or Cococay.
