I shudder to think about her seakeeping. What the **** kind of ballast do they plan to use to keep her from capsizing? I'm dying to know.

This ship is so ugly! The more its completed the more I want to throw up. It looks like if a strong wind or wave hit the ship it would tip it over. This ship wouldn't look half bad if it wernt for the 20 decks on the top decks. Ugh repulsive

Over and Out,
Arison

hi there

yeah it is unbelievable isn't it?

i really wonder where on earth have these designers been educated?

which marketing people at NCL thought that this
hideous creature of greed would get them their biggest profits..

it's all for the money but i would never give it
one thought of entering that thing, i'm stunned
to know that at this forum some people want to
go on this...

good God there are really better places to go...

regards
Joe

She looks like the wildebeast of cruise ships.

As if NCL when on a shopping spree of left over pre-fabricated sections of various shipbuilding projects and voila....Norwegian Epic.

No, this ship won't win any beauty contests. Yes, it is ugly. Yes, it has a forehead so big it's a fivehead. But I find it hard to believe that educated members of this forum simply refuse to sail in her soley because of her exterior aesthetics. The ONLY reason they proclaim not to want to sail her is because she is ugly. I cant remember the last time I booked a cruise soley because a ship was really pretty. Sure, a ships exterior design has some impact on the decisions we make on choosing a ship, but I imagine that what a ship has to offer on the inside of her hull has even a much bigger impact. Regardless of what she looks like, people will sail her. And record numbers of people will want to book her, ugly or not. You'll just get left behind wondering what all the excitment is about when the first rave reviews start pouring in.

I do hope its all just a dream and we hear that some unruly shipyard workers have been dismissed for causing deliberate and unwieldy damage by erecting that concrete carpark on top of the bridge!!

Only one thing is for sure, if she ever sinks she will go down bow first.

It boggles my mind that she doesn't roll over in the engraving dock, let alone in water. Still, I'd have no problem visiting or even sailing in her. Whether successful or not, she'll be interesting and maybe even a bit innovative. And, for now at least, there is only one instead of twenty versions of her.

I really don't like the zone up to the bridge ....

Huge and heavy on the bow ...

Totally agree with you. You hit the nail on his head. saw the renderings and to me she looks very nice inside much better then the other mega vessel build up north. Yeah I would sail here.

Greetings Ben.

I'm really hoping for rave reviews. It's interesting, ever since I received the EPIC inaugural brochure, I've actually been more excited about her then OASIS. The brochure is just so well done it entices you to sail on her right away! In the end she may not quite be in the same league as OASIS, but she will probably be the closest thing out there.

One thing is for certain, she is not a pretty ship on the exterior. She is like the dog that is so ugly she is actually cute. I was actually won over by PRIDE OF AMERICA's looks after sailing on her twice, and maybe the same will happen with EPIC?

I do think the interior renderings of EPIC look amazing. I booked a cabin that will have access to the Courtyard area and I think that is key on this ship. I think the main pool and general pubic areas could be quite crowded. I don't know, but I just get that impression from studying the deck plans and the amount of people she will be carrying. There are a lot of restaurants and outdoor bars, but when people are not eating or it's raining I'm wondering if the smaller interior public venues will hold everyone? OASIS on the other hand has some massive interior public spaces so I don't see this problem as much.

I don't think EPIC will be anymore top heavy compared to any other ship. Remember that extensive tests are done for stability, hull resistance, and speed. Also that forward top section is essentially hollow when compared to the meat of the ship which is low and towards the back. It's the engines that are truly the weight of the ship, and to offset that there are ballast tanks forward. Most of the rest of the ship is pretty hollow and light in comparison.

Ernie

I fear that all the 'bling' worn by the Villa guests (inc. Ernie) will definately make her unstable! ;-)

I don't think she will be so bad and her interiors renderings are very good, however, her layout is horrible. I think the Freestyle concept can become much better once NCL can figure out a good working layout for their new ships.

Here's a recent image of her from Shipspotting by Christian Plagué. I'm happy Miami will be her homeport.

Mr NCL said he didn't built ships for people to watch sail by. Well EPIC proves it, she is externally hideous. But I've booked, because I'm intrigued and I'm actually looking forward to it, just like I am with the Oasis and Carnival Dream, and just like I was with the Solstice.

I was hoping that somehow the artist impressions that were released had somehow made the "forehead" look larger than it is, oh well another hope crushed. Yes she is truly an unattractive ship.

However, like Ernie, I will wait to see what the interior looks like before casting my final opinion.

This should have been the Norwegian Epic's hull art
