If you made a list of the mass market cruise line ships currently in service that you wanted to cruise on, what would your Top 5 list look like?

Currently in service? Unfortunately none that I am dying to go on because I've already hit most of the newest designs. If I had to pick two, it would be MSC FANTASIA and MSC POESIA.

Upcoming mass-market ships is a different story.

OASIS OF THE SEAS
NORWEGIAN EPIC
CARNIVAL DREAM

Pretty much in that order.

Top 5 sailed on in 10 years? Probably the following ... all new mass-market ships (FYI I consider lines like Princess, Celebrity, and HAL to be mass-market). Sorry, I couldn't keep it to just 5. I really enjoyed all these ships.

CELEBRITY SOLSTICE
FREEDOM OF THE SEAS
RADIANCE OF THE SEAS
CARNIVAL SPIRIT
VOYAGER OF THE SEAS
INFINITY
CENTURY
PRIDE OF AMERICA
MSC OPERA

If Cunard were mass-market (some may think they are), then I would add:
QE2
QM2
QV

hi there

sorry to say, but this topic is too stupid
for words at all

why would it be interesting to know what kind of
personal top 5 you have without any explanation,
comment and so on

it's typical for this age...naming numbers
and lists without any content

my list is NONE

best regards,
Joe

My sincerest of apologies to everyone on this forum for creating this stupid thread. I thought maybe if I could get an understanding of what mass market ships our fellow forum members have enjoyed (no explanation really needed) I could see a common factor among the lists.

I am in search for a cruise for myself for late 2010 and had hoped that I could use this information to maybe go to the next step, investigating which cruise ship came up most among those enjoyed by our fellow members.

Sorry to have insulted anyones intelligence.

5 Mass Market vessels I would like to sail on & haven't, in no particular order are:-

MSC SPLENDIDA
CRISTAL
ORIENT QUEEN
MARCO POLO
ASTORIA [if she ever gets to Saga]
[add on any Radiance Class ship]

There are others should the opportunity arise, but these are of more interest from ship, itins and overall cruising experience.

That's the COSTA FORTUNA. There are Italian Line ships on the ceiling of her aft atrium, as well.

OK, this isn't five, but here are ones that interest me:

CELEBRITY CENTURY
CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM-class
CELEBRITY SOLSTICE-class
MSC MUSICA-class
ORIANA and AURORA
QUEEN VICTORIA

(I have been on Celebrity three times between 1993 and 2006, and not once on one of the current ships....)

If we can add future ships, add OASIS OF THE SEAS and QUEEN ELIZABETH.

If we limit it to ships still in service, and Cunard is "mass market" (it must be, has art auctions and all that stuff ) then QM2 is far and away the best. (And a few hours from now I will be on board again. )

The other standout is VOYAGER OF THE SEAS (or sisters).

ROTTERDAM was really nice but is going to be butchered shortly. And QE2 isn't around any more. (That one deserves a "crying" emoticon, but this site hasn't got one.)

THANKS Malcolm and to everyone else for contributing. Yaw are the best. I am usually thick skinned but what buddhaJoe said really kind of struck me as harsh and insensitive. I was stunned into embarrasment for myself, made me feel really stupid.

THANKS again...

From looking at the lists posted so far there seems to be two categories of ships in these lists, mega ships and panama canal ships. Interestingly I expected to see lists of small and others of large but most seem to be pretty diverse with ships from both categories.

If I may impose another question, and your reasoning need not be included.

If you had ONE choice, to cruise simply for the ship and its onboard offerings and ambiance, would you choose the RADIANCE OF THE SEAS or the CELEBRITY ECLIPSE?

That is a tough question. I have sailed on Solstice- Equinox is a clone and Radiance. I think I would go with Radiance. After some thought there were a few things I did not like about Solstice.
Area outside the theatre(congested with entertainers after the shows made exiting difficult)
The Casino with the shops right next to it. Space too open and noisy. IMO

Future cruises:
QM2
Oasis OTS
Queen Victoria
Allure OTS

Frosty 4
