Not that there is anything wrong with them (that's my version of a disclaimer) but in coming up with a list of perspective ships for my cruise in 2010 Carnival wasn't even ever considered. I have cruised them before but I just cant see me ever going on their ships again.

So my Top 5 (even Top 20) list of ships I dont want to sail on would be anything from Carnival Cruise Lines.

1) Norwegian Epic (all around don't like)
2) Queen Victoria (see note 1)
3) Queen Elizabeth (see note 1)
4) Carnival Sensation (they added horrible balconies)
5) Norwegian Dawn (the ship seems cursed or something)

*note 1) The two newest queens are nothing more than a polished cruise ship and thus don't seem worthy of the Cunard name (unlike the QM2).

HAL Vista Class
Carnival Destiny/Conquest/Concordia Class
Carnival Holiday/Fantasy Class
Norwegian Star Class
RCI Vision Class
Princess Sun Class

These are my least favorite classes of ships. None were so horrible that I wouldn't return, there are just better choices for me out there.

Carnival Destiny/Conquest class
HAL Vista class

Ships that do not interest me
Carnival Dream - Just more of the same old stuff from Carnival.
Princess Grand Class

1) Any Carnival Ship
(I'm not anti-Carnival, I just could not tolerate the decor. I associate cruising with class/taste)
2) Any MSC
(I don't believe the multi-cultural thing would work for me. So many terrible reviews)
3) Any Costa Ship
(Carnival under another name - what's Italian about that?)
4) Ventura or Azura
(If I want to try a 'Grand Class' I'll go with Princess. P&O are so overpriced!)
5) Queen Elizabeth
(I've done Queen Vic and don't want to try another Vista, let alone a Queen Vic clone)

Just goes to show, I love the Sun class, crap balconies and small cabins/suites but I do like the layout.

I would NOT want to go on:

1.) Any of Carnival's Fantasy Class
2.) Carnival's Holiday
3.) Any HAL's older tonnage.

those are really the main ones that i can think of... can't say that if I were offered a free cruise I wouldn't go..

Mike,
You're right. We all have different tastes which is a good thing. There were things I liked about the Sun Class (pool areas for one), but enough things that didn't impress me that I'm in no rush to return. My cabin and the overall condition of the ship kind of put me off. I expect more from Princess. The entire week-long experience was one of my more forgettable. It wasn't that any one thing was so horrible, but nothing stood out as excellent either.

My 5 would be
- RCI Vision Class - Made old by the Princess Sun Class when they were still new
- HAL S Class - As above
- Carnival Fantasy Class - As Above
- Any adults only cruise ship - God's waiting room afloat
- Any themed cruise, Country & Western, Rock'n'Roll, Soapies, G&L you name it.

Oasis class
any Celebrity ship
any Costa ship
any Cunard ship except QM2 (it should be a one ship wonder fleet)
any NCL ship.

Justifications:

I could not imagine having a good cruise on Oasis to a destination where you have to compete with 4000+ other passengers to get a spot on a shore excursion or do something exciting. Not a good ship for destination cruising.

I am not fussed on Premium lines. They are just so middle class. If you want true quality then venture to true luxury like Regent or Crystal. Thats my philosiphy. QM2 excepted due to its size and passenger capacity.

Costa - I cant speak Italian or any Euro language.

NCL - Lack of information about that line at all where I live. In fact I know very little about its fleet and it is an assignment to find anything out about them.

My list is zero, I wouldn't not sail anything. There are many ships low down on the list of priority which I will probably never set foot aboard, but should the opportunity arise when there is nothing else higher up the list available at that time then I would go. After all, one is at sea on a ship

-Any Easy Cruise something.
-MSC Melody (interiors...)
-The Disney ships (very good looking and probably nice to sail on, but not for me).
-One of the Dmitriy Shostakovich Class turned into a full cruise ship (i.e. The Iris). I feel something wrong with them.
-An Hurtigruten ship FOR CRUISING, terribly overpriced with mostly ferry like amenities.

- Carnival Just not my cup of tea, terrible decor and not very nice fellow passengers. (same as Costa)
-Ventura/Azura Comes across as a cramped Butlins at sea, wouldn't mind Oriana again or Aurora.
-NCL, I don't think freestyle is not my thing, I will get very annoyed with paying surcharges all the time in order to avoid mediocre food and service
-Aida, Serious overcrowded ships with only buffet food.
-MSC, haven't got their act together, comes across as stingy indifferent mediocre service with lots of surcharges

1.) Queen Mary 2
2.) easyCruise Life
3.) Festival & Aquamarine
4.) Coral
5.) Norwegian Epic (while the interiors look interesting, "F(r)eestyle Cruising 3.0" ist not what I'm looking for when on vacation)

I'll sail on just about anything but would put the Holiday, Melody, Ventura, and any Princess ship at the bottom of my list.

A few of you have mentioned the "vision class" which includes the newly renovated Enchantment of the seas. Just wondering if that was taken into consideration? I havn't sailed on it, but appears to be a nice ship

In my case, I don't think there is anything wrong with the Vision Class, I've just never had the strong desire to sail on one. This being said, I wouldn't mind sailing on ENCHANTMENT OF THE SEAS because I think she is the best of the bunch. I also think she is one of the better 4/5 day ships out of South Florida. Given the choice between any Vision Class or any Fantasy Class, I'll take the Vision Class any day.

It is rather interesting as well to see so many 'Not' ships show up on others Top 5 List. Different strokes, I guess.

There are very few ships I don't want to sail - nearly any ship is better than no ship at all.

But Cunard has been in the cruise business since the 1920s or earlier - so what is wrong with a Cunard cruise ship?
