I wondered if anyone has any interior photos of the former Royal Viking sister ALBATROS, sister to BLACK WATCH and BOUDICCA. From observing the exterior photos it appears that the stern deck has not been extended as far aft as BLACK WATCH and BOUDICCA have. I know that ALBATROS had a refit just before Boudicca came into service but was told it mainly covered the mechanical aspects.

From observing the original deck plans it appears that both BOUDICCA and ALBATROS were similar in interior layout. It would be interesting to see how they have developed with separate owners.

I see very little that reminds me of her RVL days other than the low ceilings and small cabins. I am sure she's carrying more pax now than in RVL days so she may seem crowded. Any recent pax care to elaborate?

I have sailed BOUDICCA when she was under STAR CRUISES and also have toured ALBATROS in 2007.

ALBATROS has the 2-deck high theater retained on deck 3 and 4 but on BOUDICCA the theater was converted to cabins, conference centre and gym some years ago (by STAR CRUISES I think). Also, BOUDICCA has a small swimming pool on deck 9 but ALBATROS has 3 hot tubs in the same location instead.

I found the photos of ALBATROS quite interesting. BLACK WATCH still has her original theatre whereas BOUDICCA has cabins in its place. There are some similarities between the three sisters such as the aft swimming pool, the observatory lounge. One thing I was surprised at was the bar in the Mowe/Pelikan dining room - is this a recent addition or was it standard across the RVL fleet? The cabins on ALBATROS appear to be quite similar in decor to BLACK WATCH than BOUDICCA as BOUDICCA has a lot of wood in her cabins whereas on BLACK WATCH still has a lot of her original decor. I'm sure ALBATROS has her followers in the German market but for some reason the decor looks a bit disjointed.

Many thanks for the links.

I was just looking at these pics and am wondering if the figurehead in the "Observation Lounge" on deck 8 is the original from her RVL days. It looks like it; however, I have no pics handy to reference. Anyone?

I also noticed that the round bar in "Harry's Bar" is the same as when it was the Dolphin Bar (or perhaps a different name on the Sea - the aft one overlooking the pool - which also looks the same ).

The Albatros comes across as really plain on the inside which isn't always a bad thing. Her deck areas with all the teak look very nice but I can't imagine you would ever have the special feeling that walking into the classy wood panelled forward foyer of a ship like the old Canberra gave or would ever experience the wow factor many modern ships with expansive atriums provide.

Thanks fore sharing. Looking to those pictures I found Albatros quite bland. Well as Aussie1 said not always a bad thing. When I compare here interiors with the pré update Costa Romantica bland interiors. In this case it's a bit to bland. Also wondering why some designers think that hanging curtains on a ceiling (main dinning room) is decorative???? Well the room is one of the more attractive rooms on board.

BUT overall nice classic ship.
Greetings Ben.

All three sisters under RVL were very understated with interesting modern decorative pieces and hangings. They had a subdued richness about them. I am not a fan of the decor now on this sister and not a fan of FO's decor on the other two. Perhaps Black Watch and Boudicca look better in person which is often the case in ship decor....particularly in person at night.

I think that Boudicca's decor is exceptional - I don't like sailing on her but I think her interiors are outstanding.
