I was checking out pictures of the new Silversea's ship, Silver Spirit on her trials, and I must say I think she is most unattractive. For me, Silversea's ships have gotten progressively uglier since their attractive first pair..

Yep, to me she is a mini Epic, her lines are just as horrible.

However I think in both cases the interiors (will in the Epic's case) make up for it.

To me she looks like two different ships that were fused together. The front section is a full three decks higher than the rear, and they just do not look like they belong together.

Oh dear... what an unfortunate looking ship. She bears a resemblance to Quasimodo. Considering she is a direct competitor to the new Seabourne ships, I think Carnival should, in this case, be given all the credit for designing an original and stylishly good looking ship.

If i were to pay Silversea prices i'd want to look back from the dock and feel proud of the ship i'd just disembarked from... I'd be ashamed to admit to anyone that i'd got off such an ugly creature.

Is Silversea Italian owned?

She looks a lot like SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR, which I am not overly fond of.

It seems Silversea had to get in another deck of balconies. This is unfortunate as it detracted from the looks of the vessel.

I agree the SEABOURN ODYSSEY is the best looking new luxury ship. I think Carnival did an excellent job on this one.

Very understandable as they often have a high bridge and deck house witha flat deck out back for working on. Kind of like this

Fantastic.
'They' actually managed to screw up the aft of Seabourn Odyssey and the front of Silver Spirit. Can't someone get the people responsible for the front of Seabourn Odyssey and the aft of Silver Spirit to work together on one ship?

hi there

she was delivered on saturday

see story by seatrader:

Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard handed over the 36,000gt Silver Spirit today at a ceremony attended by Silversea Cruises officials led by chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio. Representing Fincantieri were chairman Corrado Antonini and ceo Giuseppe Bono.

The ship holds special significance for both the owner and the builder.

‘Despite the economic slowdown in 2008, we have continued to invest in the product and in human resources,’ Lefebvre said. ‘In July we reached a record number of bookings and for the end of December we expect to achieve approximately 70% of the revenue plan for 2010.’ He called it ‘the company’s best result since it was founded.’

For his part, Bono noted Silver Spirit is the first ship Fincantieri has produced for Silversea and ‘the first vessel of this type that Fincantieri has built, thus making its debut in the super-luxury segment.’ He added: ‘It is also a first for Ancona shipyard which has succeeded in this type of production as it can draw on a wealth of highly qualified human resources.’

Silver Spirit brings the Silversea fleet to a total of six vessels. The 540-passenger newbuild offers 270 suites, 95% with balconies, six restaurants and the brand’s largest spa. Giacomo Mortola served as the architect for the Art Deco-style interiors.

On Dec. 19 Silver Spirit is due to arrive at Monaco, and Dec. 23 sees the start of the inaugural cruise, from Barcelona to Lisbon. The christening is set for Jan. 21 in Fort Lauderdale with Manfredi Lefebvre’s sister, Silvia Lefebvre D’Ovidio, serving as godmother.

best regards
b. Joe
