Wow. Hard to believe how big she is. And as others have noted, the aft view is not her best. She does appear very top-heavy. It just looks odd for the Viking Crown/Loft Suites area to be so much wider than the hull.

WOW she is big. That is first good ship comparison I have seen.

I agree this particular view is her least attractive. She looks top heavy and out of proportion. Thankfully her view from other angles is much better.

Looks even bigger when shes sitting next to other ships!

Has anyone seen pictures with ALL lifeboats installed? I've only seen 3-4 missing on each side since heading to ft. laudy

Her rear end view is definitely ungainly. She looks like she'll topple over. Fortunately her side on view is not bad and certainly no worse than any other alcony laden cruise ship.

This image of Oasis docked next to Costa Atlantica reminds me of images of QM2 when she was docked next to QE2 in NYC-a huge ship docked next to a gigantic ship . She is massive and as posted, this is'nt her best angle.

Yes i have to agree her stern does ruin her otherwise nicer than average appearance a little bit, i suppose its a bit like QM2 being let down slightly by her squat funnel. I`d still love to see both these ships in real life though.

sorry but nevertheless my personal opnion

she is one of the ugliest ships afloat...

an eyesore to every harbour she visits,
but also a significant milestone for shipbuilding
in general

Some say that dogs look like their owners.

Are ships now starting to look like their passengers?

Overall I do not think she is a bad-looking ship but from that angle she is ugly as heck. Makes QM2 stern-on look great and that's really saying something!

This also shows off how scarily big she is to great effect. COSTA ATLANTICA looks positively tiny there.

As someone mentioned her broadside view is nowhere as bad as a dead stern view.

Here are a couple of others that arent as bad...

Being aboard Melody alongside Costa Atlantica a few years back I recall being overwhelmed at her size in comparison. Goodness knows what I would feel with Oasis towering over me.

Is there a decent dead astern photo anywhere? I have not come across one. She looks dreadful on the cam shots from that angle; a bloated sabre toothed fish of some description

Thanks, a nice picture. It does not show the bloating so much, no doubt being from a lower level, and you can't see the 'fangs' so well

These stern views are from the seatrials, but you can definitely see the top-heavy / narrow hull bit.

No lifeboats are to go where you think boats are missing on both sides. Those areas are loaded with liferaft canisters. The is the view you woll get all the time. Remember these are not your average 150pax Schatt Harding lifeboats these carry just over 300 people. So count them and do that math and you'll see they are more than enough for the intended pax capacity of the ship plus all the life rafts and other floatation devices.

Sea Trials Sept 29

Oasis arrival pics

True for the big section in the middle where it looks like boats would go, but aren't. However she is missing boats up forward. The arrival pics here clearly show lifeboats in the first sets of davits on each side. Lifeboat 1 or it's davit on the port side was reportedly damaged in the transit across the Atlantic and removed shortly after her arrival. My guess is that they removed the starboard lifeboat #2 for symmetry.

Originally the first two lifeboats on the starboard side went missing after her arrival. Just before her first sailing the second one returned. I think the second one is really the first from the port side in order to keep the evacuation capacities safe. I'm kind of surprised they haven't fixed it yet though. I would have been willing to place money on them having them back before the first revenue sailing. Maybe someone onboard can check the numbers out to confirm or deny the move.

Personally I think Oasis is a really good looking ship but I do agree that from directly behind she doesn't look her best. Pretty much all the other angles though are good.

Her beam is 154 feet but her extreme width is 184 feet - elswehere I have seen over 200 feet quoted but that may be sales talk. But at the quoted figures that's still fifteen feet of overhang on either side, as someone has suggested probably at her bridge wings. There is still a lot hanging out however.
